1940 grey Leica IIIc

Hi,

 

I have the oppertunety to buy a 1940 Grey Leica IIIc.

 

The thing is, the camera is an early 1940 model, serialnumber 3680XX. And I don't seem to be able to find any information about the value of these early non-K grey IIIc's.

 

The camera has black (grey) painted strap hooks (which I have never seen before), and a black shutter speed dial. 

 

If you have any information about the value of such a beauty, I would love to hear from you.

 

The camera comes without lens.

Strange, another gray, 368016 is being discussed currently in German Forum. And both seem to have same features which genuine gray Leicas did not have. Same camera or another counterfeit?

Well, at least the basis is not Russian. Badly done, if it looks like this from the outside I have grave doubts about the innards.

Yes, not Russian, but originality is highly uneven.  But, at least, the seller doesn't claim any special rarity... the look is anyway no bad, and price not indecent  for a lover of odd (and simply "odd") Leicas

Right, about the current bid... .; indeed  I hadn't noticed it was an auction... saw just the estimate price and thought that ti was much better than the one for the legendary IIG

A much more interesting item in this auction is a rather clean looking iiif with Leicavit.
