Hi Leica Forum members

I just recently acquired this Lens

It is a beauty except for the lens hood /- filter issue !

I find that Leica needs to design lenses and hoods more consciously

The 11688 lens hood is a silly design.

Not being able to use a filter with it in place is pathetic

Remember Leica does charge a premium price $$$ for their cameras /- lenses.

The photographers should not be looking for solutions

I think hoods are necessary to get the most from the optics

but when they conflict with the filters, Then there is a problem

I am still looking for a solution and have asked Leica also about this issue.

Leica redesigned the hood to fix the issue. For a while, they replaced the problematic hood with the new one at no charge.

Sorry, I don’t. But presumably the updated ones are the only ones Leica is selling now.

Leica fixed the issue by changing the existing hood from a clip on hood to a screw in hood.  I sent my hood for the service at no charge a few years ago.  Not certain they still do this.  You can see the result in posts on the previous page - 21.  Good luck.
