ayewing Posted June 6, 2015 Share #424 Posted June 6, 2015 Well my D-Lux 109 claims to be able to:- Take pictures by remote control with a smartphone Play back pictures in the camera on a smartphone Save pictures from the camera to a smartphone Transfer pictures from camera to laptop Send pictures from the camera t0 social networking services Add location information to pictures in the camera from the smartphone Operate the camera to send pictures to the smartphone. I may add that I never do any of these things though I did briefly try out the remote control facility when I first got the camera.

pop Posted June 6, 2015 Share #426 Posted June 6, 2015 I have used WiFi with my Leica C several times for tethered shooting. It's valuable whenever the viewfinder is where your eyes can't be. This includes using the camera on a tripod or copy stand. It's also useful in those situations because you have access to all settings and functions without touching the camera. Lastly, you can preview and adjust the image while discussing it with someone else, particularly when using a tablet. I find the WiFi underwhelming for moving the pictures from the camera to storage. The bandwidth does not make that an enjoyable experience. The power consumption both in the camera and the phone or tablet has to be reckoned with. You also have to close all apps running in the handheld as the camera app is very storage hungry and does not behave gracefully when running out of storage. I have not yet used it for booking faces, whatever that might be.

pop Posted June 6, 2015 Share #430 Posted June 6, 2015 Cables aren't exactly reliable either, given 2-3 years of frequent use they tend to break. That is caused less by using than by storing them, particularly when you tend to wind and unwind them.

microview Posted June 6, 2015 Share #434 Posted June 6, 2015 I guess... Height - 1,2 cm, length - 2,3 cm depth - 1 cm(*) (all towards M 240) Still wondering if someone knows weight + overall dimensions of the Q116 Clearly not as quoted above, so I guess Luigi is suggesting some other aspect? Looking at the sizes of the hot shoe and speed dial suggests plan dimensions of 21mm x 125mm overall.

pico Posted June 6, 2015 Share #436 Posted June 6, 2015 Maybe I've missed the point, but unless the lens can be changed (or zoomed) then I might as well be offered a very expensive Kodak Brownie. What? We have to send the camera to Leica to have the pictures downloaded and the SD card formatted?

Paulus Posted June 6, 2015 Share #440 Posted June 6, 2015 The time that Leica was the only option never existed. Leica and Zeiss have been playing their game of optical leapfrog for more than 75 years...Not to mention manufacturers like Canon, Nikon, Konica and a host of small firms over the years. Don't forget Contax, the favorite of Ansel Adams...
