As i have absolutely no idea what lens this is, seems to be a shift lens and from the photo a newer model and for film cameras. This is commonly called Schneideritis as present in many older Schneider built lenses like the 21 and 28 Super Angulon-R lenses. Legacy lenses such as Super-Angulons do flare more easily than modern lenses and filters can hardly do anything against that. Regular hoods are 12501 for S-A 21/3.4 and 12502 for S-A 21/4 but the 12504 hood for Summilux 35/1.4 fits perfectly the 21/4. I have no experience with those lenses on film though. On digital, both S-A 21/4 and 21/3.4 do well on the M11, none of them exhibiting the dreaded "Italian flag" syndrome, contrary to my M240. None lenses are recommended by Leica on the M11, due to the rear element protruding too far into the body. There is no risk to hit the shutter, let alone the sensor, but the rear element can hit the roller cam of the rangefinder when mounting it quickly on the camera. Same issue with collapsible lenses other than Macro-Elmar 90/4. Both lenses are very sharp in the center of the frame and softer on edges and corners, with a strong vignetting and almost zero distortion. As far as OoF rendition is concerned, the S-A 21/4 has not a square aperture, my LTM version having 8 blades apparently (difficult to see them w/o a loupe) contrary to the f/3.4 M version (4 blades), also the f/4 R version for Leicaflex has 4 blades too. wlaidlaw Posted September 6 Share #67 Posted September 6 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a 21/f4 Super Angulon - R lens which I have used very infrequently on my M10-R with an R to M adapter. However I much prefer my Zeiss ZM 21 Biogon, as not only is it half the size and a whole stop faster but considerably more rectilinear and sharper into the corners. On my R cameras, I use the 21-35 Vario Elmar-R, which again out performs the S-A. I should probably sell the S-A. Many years back, I went to Bièvres , Rencontres photos, every year early June, my favorite pastime. I went there with the lens, then took time to find the hood (with many things, of course) with a sheet of paper with a list and measurements of the bit I was after. The hood has no reference or marking, sorry. It mounts from the outside of the lens by friction, 42mm. No vignetting at all. 1 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
