Monochrom and colour filters

I doubt that Leica will make the filters themselves. They will probably rebrand Heliopan, just like Hasselblad did. Which is fine 'cause Heliopan is great.

I wonder if they would consider sandwiching the polarizer between yellow glass and a ND yellow ; to save stacking filters.

I don't disagree, but that gives little incentive to buy the Leica branded filters if Heliopan has equivalent filters in the marketplace--I am assuming a Leica premium price. Of course, Leica may add their own twist to the filters in terms of specs. Moreover, color filters aren't always easy to get a hold of.

I wish. You might consider Singh-Ray's gold & blue polarizing filter. It is good for B&W and color.

I've had no problem obtaining color filters through B&H and Adorama in the U.S. Needless to say, I'm not associated with either store.

For the most part that is true, but when I was looking for filters 2 years ago, I did have trouble locating some for specific thread sizes. I would be very reluctant to buy used filters because of concerns over condition.

Thank you guys, this is a great thread. I am year long M240 user and just bought a used MM at a great price to see what the MM "mystique" is about. I'm used to post processing the color to BW and using the color channels to adjust. This thread answered many of my processing question and using filters.
