I can add that experienced ONE freeze playing confusely with EVF and "view" buttons one of the first times I used it... as far as I remember, happened more than one time only that I took 32s exposures with M8 and lens cap on... (an error that hasn't yet occurred to me with M240... but it will happen, some day... )

Yes but it was in summer 2013 if i'm not wrong, or am i?

Yes ...... and this was the heat related EVF debacle which Leica acknowledged and addressed in firmware ...... and you are correct ...... none of us beta testing had any of the lock-ups of the sort that were mentioned on this thread .... and most of us deliberately tried as many combinations of circumstances and settings as possible ..... so the problem ..... if it not user related ..... must be relatively rare for the majority of cameras and users ...

I've had my M240 for about 4 months now and i have experienced about 4 freezes during that period 3 after upgrading the firmware and 2 of those times after changing lens (yes I power of in between). It's not something to sell the gear for but it's very annoying when it happens.

I guess so as well. Rick's experience referred to by Algrove above occured in summer 2013 while we've been working on FU 2.0.1.5 in June 2014 for the purpose, among others, of checking if the lock-up problem was fixed by Leica. We were quite happy by the results then and, as far as my M240 is concerned, i still feel the same at present. I don't play to run out of buffer space on purpose though and i wonder if some of our good colleagues don't take the M for a "Kalach-Nikon" from this viewpoint... ;).

You got that right.

What do you mean by that comment?

If you mean taking panorama shots and bracketing manually one or two exposure variations, then I do that from time to time during sunrise and sunset shooting. But that should not mean I shoot like I own a "Kalach-Nikon" -whatever that is.

Just an awful pun with Kalashnikov sorry, nothing personal of course.

Nothing awful about it. Using a rangefinder for holding the shutter button down and hoping to get one or two useable photos out of a couple dozen is a style best left to other choices in cameras. In my opinion.

I don't understand parts if the discussion. I am an physicist and use cameras since 40 years. I don't fill the buffer - I use cards like Sandisk Extreme Pro 95MB/s - I have the second M240 - newest FW and I have freezes. All with EVF/LV in use. So for me it is a real problem. I love the M240, but this us the only point I don't like ...

Sorry folks but i don't understand either. If i had a faulty sample i would send it in immediately. How many complainers did return their camera since July 2014, i.e. after 2.0.1.5 firmware update, and what happened exactly afterwards?

For me ut looks more like a systematic problem, because I had it with two different M240 and other users are reporting similar problems. I'm in a dicussion with Leica about this problem and I will return the Camera if there is a chance that they can solve the problem.

So then in your discussions does Leica acknowledge that there is a problem?

May i ask if the problems you're referring to occured after the 2.0.1.5 firmware update i.e. in July 2014 or after?
