Advertisement Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Hi MarkP, Take a look here I love my M7.... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Doc Henry Posted May 7, 2016 Author Share #342 Posted May 7, 2016 (edited) Wayne , you're right to buy the M7. "120 milliseconds between you press the shutter and shooting" "the fastest camera in the world" as said Depardon He is faster than my MP I never miss one picture with my M7. I also keep my 2 digital M but I don't use them (as back up) "flat" pictures and need always correction. For the Xpro I , I compared with my M8 , here some results http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Doc+Henry/?g2_page=6 (Click in the middle right , up and right icon to enlarge) I have no problem with my M7 bought new since 2 years It seems that the series above 280,000 have no problem with the DX(from what I read , I'll try to find the link). The series began at 270,000 (2002)Congratulations for your M7 and good photos Wayne I love this camera perhaps better than my MP , sure it's faster Best Henry PS: Wayne you remember our "scanner tests" thread in the last few yearsToo bad that with the change of the website by Andreas, it is not reactivated and the thread disappeared You are welcome to our film thread too Ian (Watsy) is one of our nice contributors http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/205842-i-like-filmopen-thread/page-748 Edited May 7, 2016 by Doc Henry
gbealnz Posted May 7, 2016 Share #343 Posted May 7, 2016 LOL, sounds exactly like my scenario Wayne. I too am a Fuji aficionado, having an old beat up X-E1 (for astro) and a nice X-T1. Once the X-Pro2 surfaced (I was an early adopter of the X-Pro1, loved it) I knew I was going to get one. But I balked like you, realizing that in less than a year it would be about half the release price, such is digital. So I found a nice M7 to compliment my M6, and have not been happier. I am in the process of selling the X-T1, if I can. Good luck, enjoy. Gary

Gary Not from a Fuji background, but just got a black mint M7. #294+ and didn't realise there was a yellow sticker on the box regarding the viewfinder. It's a great camera. I came from the Zeiss Ikon ZM and am finding the metering on the M7 a bit more of a challenge but that's half the fun. The half push exposure lock compensates for having a smaller metering area than the Ikon ZM in actual practical usage so not a huge issue.

Soden Posted May 7, 2016 Share #346 Posted May 7, 2016 (edited) What's so special about serial numbers above 280...? Mine isn't. It's in the 279... Range. I've had mine since 2008. I bought it as a backup to the M8. Big mistake, preferred the M7's full frame viewfinder. My M7 is the only M that has stayed with me all this time. Where as my digital M's get upgraded often.... Soden, from what I read, for automatic recognition of film we put in the camera First M7 has an electrical contact, the latter is optically readable Secondly there is also the viewfinder of MP who is on the M7 Henry Edited May 7, 2016 by Doc Henry
Soden Posted May 7, 2016 Share #348 Posted May 7, 2016 Soden, from what I read, for automatic recognition of film we put in the camera First M7 has an electrical contact, the latter is optically readable Secondly there is also the viewfinder of MP who is on the M7 Henry Yes, mine has electrical contacts, I hear that you can't use IR film in the optical version. The MP viewfinder is something I will have to look into. I do get quite a bit of flare. Thanks.

acmineiro Posted May 7, 2016 Share #351 Posted May 7, 2016 I think the Leica M7 is perhaps the best Leica Rangefinder Leica ever made. I have had a Leica M4, M5, and the so highly thought of the Leica M6. I still stand by my words the M7 is the best Rangefinder camera ever made. I love taking pictures of nature like bees With my Leicaflex or my R4S and with the M7 I see the difference The moment I see the bee arrived and I shoot , only a few milliseconds bees change very rapidly place, not easy to take flight ... with a tripod I find it easier than SLR and it is certainly less heavy with the M Macro Elmar 90 versus R 90 Elmarit lens Kodak Portra 160 (dev home Tetenal 30°C) Macro Elmar 90 Macro Adapter Tripod picture uncropped an uncorrected Nikon Coolscan 5000 Nikon software Welcome, dear visitor! wattsy Posted May 8, 2016 Share #355 Posted May 8, 2016 Interestingly it has the upgraded viewfinder but has the old DX reader (not optical) The optical DX reader upgrade came many years after the MP finder upgrade was introduced. The latter occurred only a year or so after the M7 was launched (I recall buying a new M7 in 2003 that most definitely had the MP VF 'upgrade') whereas the optical DX reader was something like 2008.
