Advertisement Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Hi dan_drabek, Take a look here Butt watching at the beach . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
semrich Posted July 27, 2006 Share #2 Posted July 27, 2006 Very funny capture, I am so into B&W these days I can help but wonder how it would look that way. Richard
Dirk Van der Herten Posted July 27, 2006 Share #3 Posted July 27, 2006 Who said back-shots aren't interesting? ;-) Excellent catch, very funny indeed. You're really able to get the most out of your D1, Dan. Like Richard, I think this shot might be also very interesting in B/W. Dirk
stuny Posted July 27, 2006 Share #4 Posted July 27, 2006 DD - Why are the watchers kept behind a fence?
fotografr Posted July 27, 2006 Share #5 Posted July 27, 2006 Who could pass up a title like that??? Lifeguard warm-ups I presume? So, here's this guy watching butts at the beach, and you're watching him. Hmmmm. The photo is beautifully rendered. It has a dream-like quality to it. I also like the panormic cropping which dramatizes the fenceline.
albert Posted July 27, 2006 Share #6 Posted July 27, 2006 Good One.....was it inspired by the little minnesota mermaid ? Maybe there should be a section titled BUTTS.
dan_drabek Posted July 27, 2006 Author Share #7 Posted July 27, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm glad we had some fun with this one. Al, you know what they say about great minds... I was originally thinking black and white too, but when I converted from color, it became very hard to see what what going on--especially at the small upload size. The red suits help define the shapes--but I did cut the saturation way back. Brent is right, these are junior lifeguards trainees doing calesthenics. The makeshift fence is to keep people from wandering into the training area. Brent, when I go to the beach I spray my cameras with WD-40 to keep them from rusting. That tends to give the lens a dream-like quality. :-D DD

mitchell Posted July 28, 2006 Share #12 Posted July 28, 2006 I really like the butts, boats, sky, clouds and umbrellas. I know it'd detract from the humor, but I'd like the see it without the guy in the chair. But, very fun as it is. Best, Mitchell
martinop Posted July 28, 2006 Share #13 Posted July 28, 2006 Interesting and amusimg. Well seen and photographed. Like the placement of the person in the chair (foreground).
dan_drabek Posted July 28, 2006 Author Share #14 Posted July 28, 2006 Mitchell, Paul, thanks for your comments. I see this post has had over 300 hits, so it has now sucked in way more viewers than the image deserves. I guess that title worked pretty much as calculated. Leave it to an advertising guy. :-D DD
mgcd Posted July 28, 2006 Share #15 Posted July 28, 2006 In my defence, when I saw BOTH the title AND your name then I knew it had to be funny. I was not disappointed. But (no pun intended), you're right I was expecting something else...
