50mm framelines on a 240?

I tried out the new Summilux 1.4 ASPH in the store yesterday, but when I took some test shots, I noticed that the frame lines never changed to 50mm.

In fact, the frame lines stayed pretty much the way it always was. One set on the very edges, and another group close on the inside. I've been shooting 35mm this whole time, and always wondered why there was a tight group in the middle but it never bothered me since I was able to compose quite well with the 35mm Zeiss.

Now though, I noticed that there are no 50mm frame lines.

Is there a way to change this manually? I did set it to auto and even set the lens detection to manual 1.4 asph, but nothing changed.

I hope nothing is wrong :/

Frame lines are selected mechanically depending which lens you fit, they are shown in pairs as they can only fit 3 masks. Maybe read that book thing that you saw in the box your camera came in?

If the frames aren't changing they might be stuck. Try fitting another lens a few times. If no change you'll need to send the camera for repair.

Bah, I was afraid of that. Reading an instruction manual?! Bah! XD

Well, I'll try it a few times. The lens clicked, but maybe I didn't tighten it all the way or tightened it too much.

I REALLY don't want to send the camera in for repair considering I JUST got it in December. Bah. And with me moving to Japan next Monday....... sigh.

There's been a long thread on 'why can't just the frame for the attached lens show in the window', which is worth reading – albeit disappointing. Won't change in any software upgrade.

Lets start a rumor that this will be a feature on the camera to be announced next month.

Torgian:

Try holding the lens removal button pressed and turn the lens in the mount slightly further than where it normally locks, then turn it back to the middle... (where it locks) this usually gets the frames loose.

I had seized framelines on a 'collectible' - an M6 Bruckner. Understandable, as the camera was a 'box queen' and never saw a roll of film (although I did exercise the shutter every so often).

I only noticed when I came to sell it. The frame selection lever moved but did nothing (I know, the 240 doesn't have one).

A CLA sorted it.

But why should this happen on a 240 which is relatively new and is being used?

Well the mechanical portion seems to be working... with my lens cap.

I notice the frame lines moving when putting the lens cap on and off. But it didn't with the 1.4 summilux that was in the store. So, maybe that lens had something wrong with it.

I don't have any other 50mms to double check it though, but it seems like my camera may be fine.
