John is always so right. Thanks to you all for the info.

Anyway, It is amusing that it is the Olympus manual. :) I know the EV is the same, but no Leica manual?

Would be interesting to know the Oly/Leica proportion of who bought which brand.

You must be bonkers to buy the Leica one... Its an outdated EVF anyway. I picked up a mint used Oly one for 1/4 of the Leica price. Sure it says 'Olympus' on the front, but given I use it with my Olympus OM super wides, i feel that's OK :D

Now, a charged-for upgrade to an M Type240.2 that would support the EVF4 would be great for EVF users. The EVF 4 has such better resolution than the EVF 2 you can MF without zooming in and check DOF accurately. It really 'pops' on focus point without having any aid.

Oh, but the Leica EVF is so much better. It has a nice little rubber covering for the interface when not in use and a leather case instead of the nasty cloth one. I would not consider getting the Olympus one….:D

Actually I do notice that both of the Olympus EVFs in my house have hot pixels, one quite bad, and the Leica one not.

You get the rubber cover with the Oly too.

EVF4 would be nice. More likely available on the next iteration of the M, maybe... Though as you say, it could be done in firmware.:)

I have my fingers crossed that our existing M240’s can be upgraded in FW to use the VF-4. My old Olympus EP-2 was able to be upgraded. I would not be surprised if the whole of the electronic display suite is a stock item, provided by Epson and is near to identical for Olympus and Leica cameras. Obviously Leica is not going to update the firmware until such time as they run out of stock of the EVF-2 and release the EVF-4, maybe at Photokina. I just hope Leica don’t get sneaky and incorporate a subtle change in their model of the EVF-4 to prevent people buying or using the cheaper Olympus model, for those like me, who already have a VF-4.

PS. Maybe it will be a paid upgrade and the M240 would have to go back to Solms
