Very " natural " looking pictures, relaxing for the eye. A pity this system did not stay and progress further or transmited its rendering to successors. I have the same equipment including the Apo 100, Apo 3,4 x180, Apo 4x280 with 1.4x and 2x Apo extenders.  I am Shooting a lot of macro pictures with Flash.  Note: if you use the Leica Flash SF24D, or the Metz 40MZ-2 with Adapter SCA 3501 you can take flash shots with TTL measurement. However you need to correct minus 2 stops on the SCA Adapter, as the TTL was adjusted for film not for the brighter sensor.  Good success with this nice equipment Peter Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

However you need to correct minus 2 stops on the SCA Adapter, as the TTL was adjusted for film not for the brighter sensor.  Good success with this nice equipment Peter  Its been a while since I used the DMR, but I think only the R8 allowed TTL to work when a DMR was mounted and the R9 didn't.  In practical use, the auto mode of the flashes worked well with the DMR and if you put the generic foot on the Metz flash, you could also use the Flash metering (F) mode of the R8/R9 to measure through the lens in more static situations. On R9 it has been blocked by Leica to use TTL with flash, I don't know why. That is why I bought a 2nd R8 in case the other R8 fails. Rebuilds can been done by the Leica approved company in Germany, Marac (LUF member), or Michael Bass in the US. The controller card/chip needs to be working (normally it's ok). 3) If you shoot low light, use ISO 400 and up to minus 2EV and shoot RAW only. Don't use ISO 800 - far too noisy.  Charlie  Please elaborate why going to minus 2EV at ISO 400 is less noisy the ISO 800? I do not know what the changing to the minus EV does to the image quality. Â Please excuse the technical 'don't know' answer. When the DMR first came out in 2006, there was an enormously long thread on FM Miranda started by Guy Mancuso, who now runs Get DPI. Somewhere in that lengthy thread was a discussion about low light capabilities. ISO 800 on the DMR is noisy to say the least. ISO400 is ok and I have shot at ISO 400 minus 2EV in the pit at gigs for many years. ISO 800 is horrid on the DMR. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
