Advertisement Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Hi helged, Take a look here OUFRO. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
farnz Posted October 15, 2013 Share #22 Posted October 15, 2013 ... Can the one made for Visoflex be used on M240 as well i.e. are these the same products? Unlikely I'm afraid because the Visoflex mount is made deliberately thicker than the M mount to prevent M lenses from being attached directly. The rear flange to film plane distance would cause problems with focussing M lenses so they're mounted using a (large) range of adaptors. Pete. exile Posted October 18, 2013 Share #23 Posted October 18, 2013 For a cheaper option with no light loss, I use a Hoya +4 close up lens (filter). Quality is perfectly adequate. I can hand hold this setup on my M9 and 40mm Rokkor CLE no problem. If I use f/8 or narrower and set the lens to minimum focus distance, I know that the plane of focus extends one hand's length forward from the front of my lens. Primitive measurement I know, and no doubt accuracy would be greatly enhanced with live view. I can get much closer using the +4 on the 90 elmarit M (latest version), and this gives perfectly respectable close-up performance, but finding the plane of focus and compensating for parallax when framing in the viewfinder is far more problematic and means I can only obtain this level of magnification when working on a tripod and taking a number of test shots. Again, live view would make this a piece of cake. I mention all of this because it would be a cheap way for an M240 user to experiment with close up work. Would make a sweet little Christmas gift whilst you wait for Leica to deliver a new close up accessory, and if it does take the form of another hideously overpriced extension tube, the close up filters and extension tube can then be used together to get really close. Honestly, for the price you quote above for those old Leica accessories, you could buy a dedicated used macro lens for an SLR capable of 1:1 or 1:2, and an adapter to M mount! I'm thinking Olympus OM or Nikon. Third party macro lenses in those "obsolete" mounts are ridiculously cheap.
algrove Posted October 18, 2013 Share #24 Posted October 18, 2013 Found some stuff in my misc box. Perhaps stupid questions, but: What does the 14167 do for M lenses? Also would the 90 Macro adapter #14409 work on the M240 with lenses other than the 90/4? Does the 14256 work on most R lenses as a macro adapter? Also would the 90 Macro adapter #14409 work on the M240 with lenses other than the 90/4? Does the 14256 work on most R lenses as a macro adapter? Lou, The 14167 adaptor allows Visoflex lenses to be used with Leica SL and Leica R cameras. Don't know about the 90/4 Macro-Elmar-M's 14409 short focus adaptor - the best idea would to be 'suck it and see' if you get the opportunity. The 14256 adaptor will work with most R lenses but may have problems with 1 and 2 cam lenses. (I feel sure that a more learned forum member will confirm.) helged Posted October 20, 2013 Share #26 Posted October 20, 2013 (edited) Also would the 90 Macro adapter #14409 work on the M240 with lenses other than the 90/4? For many lenses - yes - although the lenses will be rotated 180 degrees on the camera. Note: Lenses with the rear lens element extending beyond the lens barrel (as SE21) will not work with the the 90 Macro adapter. Lenses with the rear glass element hiding behind the lens barrel, like the present 50 mm lenses, work fine. Below follows a quick example with M240+APO50, M240+90 Macro adapter+APO50 and M240+90 Macro adapter+OUFRO+APO50 (f4 for all photos; no postprocessing). [Quite nice rendering, although I have limited experience with this setup. And note, no loss of central contrast ]. Welcome, dear visitor! algrove Posted October 20, 2013 Share #28 Posted October 20, 2013 helged Thanks for confirming my suspicion about the 14409. Yes, understand about the setup being 180 degrees from normal. Nice shots and thanks again. jmanivelle Thanks for your examples also. Love the B&W eye shot.
mirekti Posted October 30, 2013 Share #29 Posted October 30, 2013 Oufro Leitz Leica Ring Excellent Condition M Mount | eBay Seriously??? There is a chineese cheaper version, but someone mentioned it doesn't fit well. Is it really so hard to produce an M mount OUFRO and sell it at a reasonable price? algrove Posted October 30, 2013 Share #30 Posted October 30, 2013 Agree. Should not be a big deal, but maybe the demand has been low until now with more M240 out there that make its use a breeze with LV and EVF.
thighslapper Posted October 30, 2013 Share #31 Posted October 30, 2013 I would have thought Novoflex could produce one relatively quickly and economically if the demand exists (which it does/will.....) It's hardly the most complex piece of kit .....

arvin Posted January 16, 2014 Share #33 Posted January 16, 2014 With this OUFRO ring, Can It still focus when it's infinity? or does it needs to be removed?
rirakuma Posted January 16, 2014 Share #34 Posted January 16, 2014 You need to remove it.
rirakuma Posted January 16, 2014 Share #35 Posted January 16, 2014 Actually now I'm not sure what your question meant. If you want to know whether you can reach infinity with the OUFRO the answer is no. Your working range with the OUFRO on will be 4-6inch or less as mentioned earlier.
sillbeers15 Posted January 16, 2014 Share #36 Posted January 16, 2014 Thanks for sharing the effects of a Oufro. Helps me to feel good after I've just picked up a mint condition Oufro M Ring 16469Y from ebay at GBP$299.99 w/o freight.

Your working range with the OUFRO on will be 4-6inch or less as mentioned earlier. Thanks. You answered my question in either one of your post. I only have one lens and dislike removing it from camera due to dusts and etc... I guess I will just use those close up filters. Thanks for the answers. Bill W Posted January 18, 2014 Share #38 Posted January 18, 2014 My attempt to obtain an OUFRO ended on ebay today. I thought I had it at $205 but things got out of hand and it went for $325.99 plus $6 shipping. Crazy Think I will skip the OUFRO thing.
mirekti Posted January 18, 2014 Share #39 Posted January 18, 2014 Think I will skip the OUFRO thing. I bought a chinese version for $70ish on Ebay, and it serves perfectly,
