This image is one of very few taken with a faster shutter speed, all the others suffer some camera shake. Must remember next time I get in a boat to switch to shutter priority!

All the pictures I posted where done with ISO 100, aperture 8 or 16. The exposure times varied between 13 and 30 seconds. The last picture is merged in Lightroom, I made two exposures, one aperture 8, the second aperture 16. I like the stars on light points that can be achieved with the smaller aperture. There was some post processing in Lightroom and Color Efex Pro.

Thank you Sparkassenkunde. I like these night shots very much! My X Vario did not get so much use and I was considering selling it... . Now I came to the conclusion, it's absolutely a keeper.

Best

I thank you all very much for your encouraging feedback. As many others I also sometimes thought about selling my Vario and trying out new gear. But the longer I keep it, the more I come to the conclusion that this is the right digital camera for me. It has an outstanding lens, the overall sensor quality is suiting my demands in every instance, it's control elements are very intuitive to use and the menu structure is clear and covers all the aspects that are important for me. Especially in night photography it is essential to have a tool that is easy to handle and here the Vario really shines. The oh so slow lens is of no hindrance, as I usually use it stopped down to 8 or even 16, and as the lens is so sharp, I can't see distortion in either aperture. The opportunity to have a zoom lens, comes in handy, too.

Here another view of the nightly Berlin:
