My bad! I can usually plead temporary insanity and get away with it, but here, I was reading Ralph Gibson’s Overtones and was simply overwhelmed,  perhaps myself suffering a bit of overexposure.  Overtones, Refractions: Thoughts on Aesthetics and Photography, and now Self-Exposure all have very lucid discussions that pertain to diptychs and fragmentation.  To begin, turn to page 360 in Gibson’s autobiography and read “Notes Sur la Photographie.”

“A good photographer is sensitive to that which the eye cannot see.”

Cut and print, 🎬 Roger

Thanks for prompting such invigorating dialogue that gets us all to thinking.

I'm going to have to plead "not guil;ty" to provoking any invigorating dialogue unfortunately. The only reason I mentioned the name was because when I did a search no book like the one you described came up. No matter - it is so exciting to have an extremely thoughtful and provocative photographer such as Gibson put his thoughts about the art into words and pictures. I really am looking forward to receiving the book, although now I think that perhaps I should have checked out Refractions first. Do you think it will matter?

I now have the quote you quoted in mind: A good photographer is sensitive to that which the eye cannot see. This will occupy me, no doubt, for some time.

I love how you are never afraid to try new films.  It really spices up life :)

In this case, it's rather old films :)

I'm just finishing my old stock, after that, it will be Portra all the way. Having tried all the existing color film, nothing compares to the quality and colors of Portra in my humble opinion.

nice...which Kodak 200 is this?

Kodak Gold, 24 exposure, only color film that seems to be available in drug stores. On internet I purchased some 36 exposure roles of Kodak Plus 200. I have always assumed they were the same films, but have wondered about it. Thanks.

Gold 200 is a better emulsion that CP 200, and more expensive. Quite grainy for a iso 200 film but nice warm colors. I’ve been shooting it recently but won’t buy any more. Portra 400 has much finer grain and more pleasing less saturated colors.

Very beautiful photo, Henry! The reds and greens are nicely contrasting with each other, creating almost a three dimensional effect.

I also take this picture in black and white with Kodak TX400 and  with my Leica MP - 50 Summilux lens.

As a purist and for Chrism I don't like to convert color in b&w because you lose details in the shadows

that's why I have always two cameras one with b&w film and one with color film.

For comparison I post "again" the color version. You like both version , b&w version or color version ?

I choose the black & white. It's a subject I am partial to.
