Three (at least) cheers for you.

The objective of photography (if you ask me, which you didn't) is a framed and matted print on the wall. As part of this, prints and printing matter. Good on ya.

Thanks Michael. I’m certainly enjoying the process and matting hasn’t proven as hard as i thought it might. I definitely feel differently about my photographs when i see them in a frame. It helps me see any themes and to be a *lot* more brutal on whether i think any are worth sharing.

They’re still the same images of course and I’m slow in producing them, such that I’ve totally stopped scanning b&w, takes up too much additional time. I think in about 20 years i might be ready to share my ‘portfolio’!

I continue enjoying everyone else’s shots but I think you should all stop using XP2 and use ‘proper’ b&w film :)

I know you don't approve, Henry, but it seemed to me that the colour distracted from the picture. You can judge for yourself:

Chris, I understand now , but you lose the beautiful landscape as a frame in background for Pippa :)

For the lovely portrait and for the nice landscape (I want both)  :) , I prefer color Chris.

Thank you for posting the second version :D

Best

Here another proof that sensor on digital cameras cannot take backlight and contre-jour

>  no details and color in digital, details and color still visible in film

taken at the same place and same time :)

without any contest ..

Advantage > film with his high dynamic and high sensitivity !

This picture  is dedicated to Ian, Phil, Philip and another contributors here who love "backlight-contre-jour"

Looking for late summer butterflies. Devil's Dyke near Newmarket. XP2 (I think) and 28 Summaron-M.

I really like this photograph, as I do your other against the light. The subject is glowing... lovely!

On a note aside from your lovely photos...and given your penchant for butterflies, Ian, I'm always reminded of In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida ..  :D
