It is 40 years ago, but watching your 80ies pictures it feels like yesterday...

I agree. Time really flies and it is easy to get nostalgic. On the other side of things  these old photos bring back the good feeling I had street walking with my Leicas and meeting people. Maybe photography was easier then. :))

Thanks Kl@us. I actually bought this film because it was cheap. It's expired film. Film has become astronomically expensive here and I buy expired whenever I can from the same dealer. It's infra-red sensitive film with an IR or red filter (less so with yellow) apparently but is meant to act like normal film when no filter is used. It's also high contrast - and perhaps the low-contrast PMK wasn't the best of choice for the developer. I have two more rolls and will try with Rodinal next. Someone on Flickr who shoots a lot of digital IR suggested to me to use a piece of exposed and developed colour film as an IR filter - I may have a tag of 120 film that i can use - or perhaps an overexposed shot - I don't imagine a bit of detail in the filter will make much difference. Perhaps someone can comment on that? I liked the effect it gave on the jetty photo I posted recently - but on other shots i think i would have preferred normal film and no filter. But I will try to go to the IR extreme on the next roll.

This is a really nice photo by another Flickr friend Petter Hamnes in medium format with SFX 200 and a proper IR filter (720nm):

Cheers,

Thank you for your explanation of the film. For me the film without IR-filter seems pretty mainstream-possibly a bit high contrast. On the other hand the photo of Petter Hamnes is unusual in its 3-dimensionality, the nice rendering of the sky and a fascinating artificiality.  It took me some seconds to nail the IR-effect for this. So I'm very curious about your experiments with the film. Concerning the use of a piece of color film as an IR-filter substitute: I´d guess you will need a holder for gelatine filters... if so, the step to get a proper IR-filter too shouldn't  be that big.. Although experimenting is probably more interesting...🤔

This is a superb photo, really well done. Perfect timing and framing.

Another stunner. Composition is nine tenth of a good photograph (er, um did I confuse that with something else?) and the placement of her eyes is perfectly spot on.

You really should get a book done or at least an exhibition, Bo.

This is an exciting development around the lagoon – the taming of the Color Implosion, wow. I never thought that would happen. It's as smooth as butter! I really dig the juxtaposition between the organic, free, trees and the restrictive, human-made fence.

I too lament your not getting a picture of the guitarist :D But this is a great second choice. And it makes me wonder what Hannah and Peter look like today.

There is an amusing story behind this photograph, which I took the same time as the previous one. We were staying at a campground on the outskirts of Seville and I was wandering around, as usual, with my camera. I'd taken the previous photo and when I returned to our campsite (we had a VW Kombi van converted into a pop-up camper) there was some lovely guitar music drifting over from where we were parked. It was our next-door neighbour who was playing guitar - and the guitar was all she was wearing! She, her husband and two children had left their home in West Germany hurriedly to escape the westward-drift of the fallout from Chernobyl, which had just happened, and Seville was pretty much as far south as you could go to get away from it. Anyway we became great friends and kept in contact for many years, and I photographed the children, Hannah and Peter, and later sent them a print. Unfortunately I did not photograph the guitarist 😖.

I really like this. It's fitting to include so much sky in a photo of an airport. But it's not a very schön place, methinks. Then again, like Douglas Adams wrote: "It can hardly be a coincidence that no language on Earth has ever produced the expression "as pretty as an airport". Airports are ugly. Some are very ugly. Some attain a degree of ugliness that can only be the result of a special effort."

Such a great photo! Perfectly exposed, wonderfully sharp and posed in a way that would make all of Marc's models green with envy. But it must have been cold in the water if you had to wear ski goggles :D

Last swim of the season, Oct 23rd. Chilly water, but crystal clear. Probably the clearest water I've seen in a long time. I'm not the photographer here. I set up the M3 and asked my wife to focus on the lines of goggles. I believe this is 1/100 F2 or F2.8.

The new lockdown does not allow us to pass the town's limits, so no driving around and no walks at the beach for now. I'm pretty sure the Gov will lock us inside again. Our regional governor dedicated the whole summer to his campaign and did not care about improving covid hospitals. Only words. It's a shitty situation everywhere in the world, but so for what I've got is this: if the situation improves, the Gov is to thank because they took the right decisions; if the situation gets worse, the people are to blame because they did not behave correctly. And that's regardless the political colors, left, center, right.

My first association when I saw this was that the pandemic lies like a wet, unpleasantly scratchy, manky and even mangy blanket draped over all the fun that used to be had, which can still occasionally be glimpsed through the grimness.

First rolls from my new-for-me Mamiya 7 and the 80 mm. Fomapan 100 in HC110-B. This is just a local shot with no composition in mind, but it's the character and image quality I crave. I'm just beginning to understand the camera's spot meter, but I'm really happy with the number of zones the camera's hitting. Good sky definition even without a filter. Have I adequately conveyed my enthusiasm for this camera? 😀

Stefan, thank you. I should have recognized it-- I've been there. I do remember the place very well. For several reasons. I arrived there on a busy saturday night... looking for my bed&breakfast. Google led me right into the old town.. until the lane was so narrow that I couldn't move any more, not even get out of the car. I was impressed with the patience of the crowd surrounding me--perhaps they were just impressed by my  foolishness of driving into the pedestrian precinct.... And then there was that marriage procedure starting  in front of the cathedral--the bride looked angry, the bridegroom even angrier--and the respective families standing in two groups--as if preparing for a shoot out. Didn't see a lupara though.... 🤤

Yep Klaus, going by car in the night in the narrow streets means getting into trouble :) but a nice story! There are too many tourist there in summer and everywhere its packed.

The more common view to Cefalù is from here (last August). On my opinion, the place is too crowded in summer but on rare occasion I have to go there with my wife because of the good restaurants at the beach ;)

I prefer the lonely beaches nearby at Campofelice

thank you for the pictures, Stefan, they bring back happy memories. Although I was there in late September. Empty beaches; on asking I was told : 15th of September is over ! There seems to be rule that forbids swimming after that date....lest your name is Antonio..😀
