With the Rencontres at Arles cancelled this year, a handful of galleries privately had some works on show; slim pickings at best. Here is one which flummoxed...    [Silvermax]

Nice shot. For some reason, it makes me think of garden gnomes. I like garden gnomes. :)

My first association when I saw this was that the pandemic lies like a wet, unpleasantly scratchy, manky and even mangy blanket draped over all the fun that used to be had, which can still occasionally be glimpsed through the grimness.

"All the fun." That's the carnival, the history of it, at least, with a hint of its presence, wedged or smothered by the "mangy blanket of gray" that parades as pandemic. They're only colors, though sometimes the chorus of COVID snarls from the recesses, insisting on its own narrative. They're only colors. I applaud your stagecraft.

Like so many of the photos Phil, Klaus, Philipus, and many others, I see this and admire the ability to take a scene and transform it, ideally, into what is needed to present it as Art. To me, it is sort of like visual mysticism......something to strive for; having so little to do with equipment, but with ability.
