Anyway... seems to me that all the reasonable alternatives (...) have been speculated, so there at least will be someone who will say " AHA ! I TOLD YOU ! "

Did we already have the intercangeable sensor or the stereo lens version (for 3D)?

There has been so much speculation, I'll throw my hat into the ring.

From the latest tease picture, I guess it has no viewfinder and will be in 4/3 sensor (MTF)

format given the strong tie with Panasonic for many years. Panasonic already had Leica formulated lenses, so that MTF lenses with an M mount to keep the new lenses proprietary, thus preserving Leica's main sales interest in lenses intact would be a no-brainer. That way it can also use legacy lenses manually, while the new MTF lenses with M mounts will have some auto features such as AF and AE. It will no doubt take a high quality clip-on EVF, and from the very pebbly texture of the body covering, it will be a luxury item priced somewhere in between the the X2 and the ME. I expect that the kit lens will be telescopic prime lens like the old Elmar f3.5 to be consistent with Leica pocket-able tradition.

Anyway, that is my zwei pfenning's worth.

I am hoping for: A Leica-MAX equipped camera with an AF 35 cron. (basically a RX1-killer).

I am guessing it will be: An X2 with a f4.5-6-7 zoom lens with ghastly amounts of distortion at an equally unappealing price.

Hope I am wrong!

Or do we just see what we want to see...? My hat is off to Leica marketing.

I think a lot of companies must have been taken aback by the hysteria around the Olympus OMD last year. They did very similar things such as showing little glimpses of the camera which got the forums lit up with speculation about the end products features. Hats of to Leica no doubt about it for playing a similar marketing game really well.

And, btw, I'd define ridicolous a marketing the invents such a ploy just to announce a zoomed X2....:o

I hope you're right.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up for an almost pocketable, full frame Leica taking my M lenses, and with traditional dials on the top, with an AF zoom option, perhaps a bit of video ...

[shakes himself awake] Nah, won't happen [/return to normal realistic mode where Leica has a habit of disappointing]

After today's teaser, at least one thing we know with certainty is that the camera will be available in black.

Well—what we know with absolute certainity is that the left-hand side of the front will be available in black.

Has there been a replacement announced for the now discontinued V-Lux 40? If not, then it is likely that Leica is progressively moving away from rebadged Panasonics (i.e. no more V-Luxes) and this announcement of a Leica M Mini, could well be the introduction of a Leica zoom compatible M mount body. I think they now have enabled the M mount with electronics.

What I am disappointed with is the poor quality of the box image. The logo is poor quality and it's perspective does not match that of the box. I wonder which camera was used to take this picture. Was it Jonathan's iPhone?

Now this is an interesting analysis http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=2147580
