sblitz Posted May 27, 2013 Share #561 Posted May 27, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) X2 is already a micro m so putting a zoom doesn't make it a mini only an improved micro
Advertisement Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Hi sblitz, Take a look here Mini M? [MERGED] AKA X-Vario. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
luigi bertolotti Posted May 27, 2013 Share #562 Posted May 27, 2013 And, btw, I'd define ridicolous a marketing the invents such a ploy just to announce a zoomed X2....
Paolo.Battista Posted May 27, 2013 Share #563 Posted May 27, 2013 Looking at the last picture, it seems very similar to the RX-1. So an FF with fixed lens. The dimensions seems like the x2 or even slightly smaller.
3D-Kraft.com Posted May 27, 2013 Share #564 Posted May 27, 2013 Anyway... seems to me that all the reasonable alternatives (...) have been speculated, so there at least will be someone who will say " AHA ! I TOLD YOU ! " Did we already have the intercangeable sensor or the stereo lens version (for 3D)?
jevidon Posted May 27, 2013 Share #565 Posted May 27, 2013 There has been so much speculation, I'll throw my hat into the ring. From the latest tease picture, I guess it has no viewfinder and will be in 4/3 sensor (MTF) format given the strong tie with Panasonic for many years. Panasonic already had Leica formulated lenses, so that MTF lenses with an M mount to keep the new lenses proprietary, thus preserving Leica's main sales interest in lenses intact would be a no-brainer. That way it can also use legacy lenses manually, while the new MTF lenses with M mounts will have some auto features such as AF and AE. It will no doubt take a high quality clip-on EVF, and from the very pebbly texture of the body covering, it will be a luxury item priced somewhere in between the the X2 and the ME. I expect that the kit lens will be telescopic prime lens like the old Elmar f3.5 to be consistent with Leica pocket-able tradition. Anyway, that is my zwei pfenning's worth. skinnfell Posted May 27, 2013 Share #566 Posted May 27, 2013 I am hoping for: A Leica-MAX equipped camera with an AF 35 cron. (basically a RX1-killer). I am guessing it will be: An X2 with a f4.5-6-7 zoom lens with ghastly amounts of distortion at an equally unappealing price. Hope I am wrong! earleygallery Posted May 27, 2013 Share #567 Posted May 27, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) They got that from my earlier post (#202) in this thread:D No, they read my post #79 I still think X zoom or body style with a small range (2 or 3) AF lenses. satijntje Posted May 27, 2013 Share #568 Posted May 27, 2013 I somewhat like this mini M striptease:D:D:D John
NJH Posted May 27, 2013 Share #569 Posted May 27, 2013 Or do we just see what we want to see...? My hat is off to Leica marketing. I think a lot of companies must have been taken aback by the hysteria around the Olympus OMD last year. They did very similar things such as showing little glimpses of the camera which got the forums lit up with speculation about the end products features. Hats of to Leica no doubt about it for playing a similar marketing game really well.
IkarusJohn Posted May 27, 2013 Share #570 Posted May 27, 2013 And, btw, I'd define ridicolous a marketing the invents such a ploy just to announce a zoomed X2.... I hope you're right. I'm trying not to get my hopes up for an almost pocketable, full frame Leica taking my M lenses, and with traditional dials on the top, with an AF zoom option, perhaps a bit of video ... [shakes himself awake] Nah, won't happen [/return to normal realistic mode where Leica has a habit of disappointing]
Leicaiste Posted May 27, 2013 Share #571 Posted May 27, 2013 What we can now say The Mini-M has a lens Isn't that a neck strap ?

jgmb Posted May 27, 2013 Share #573 Posted May 27, 2013 After today's teaser, at least one thing we know with certainty is that the camera will be available in black.
01af Posted May 27, 2013 Share #574 Posted May 27, 2013 After today's teaser, at least one thing we know with certainty is that the camera will be available in black. Well—what we know with absolute certainity is that the left-hand side of the front will be available in black.
earful Posted May 28, 2013 Share #575 Posted May 28, 2013 i think all we really know is that there is a box.
Karl G Posted May 28, 2013 Share #576 Posted May 28, 2013 Are we sure there is a box? I don't see four sides in the picture let alone a top and bottom. Are the other sides options?
rramesh Posted May 28, 2013 Share #577 Posted May 28, 2013 Has there been a replacement announced for the now discontinued V-Lux 40? If not, then it is likely that Leica is progressively moving away from rebadged Panasonics (i.e. no more V-Luxes) and this announcement of a Leica M Mini, could well be the introduction of a Leica zoom compatible M mount body. I think they now have enabled the M mount with electronics.
wildlightphoto Posted May 28, 2013 Share #578 Posted May 28, 2013 i think all we really know is that there is a box. That's the camera. Pinhole at one end, sensor at the other. The box opens to clean the sensor.
NZDavid Posted May 28, 2013 Share #579 Posted May 28, 2013 Looks like there could be some sharkskin or crocodile inside for the real snapper.
rramesh Posted May 28, 2013 Share #580 Posted May 28, 2013 What I am disappointed with is the poor quality of the box image. The logo is poor quality and it's perspective does not match that of the box. I wonder which camera was used to take this picture. Was it Jonathan's iPhone?
