Hi Frank,

Welcome to the forum!

I'd love to see a picture of your yellow Digilux 2 if possible please?  Did you get its yellow clothes from CameraLeather.com?

Pete.

It looks super cool!
One of mine is aqua colored, so I am glad to see some other D2s with non-traditional colors.

just picked one of these up. very fun to shoot and the images look absolutely stunning to me. the build quality is great too. this was converted from raw to dng using some online converter then edited on android lightroom mobile.

Welcome to the forum, Jaysats, and congratulations on acquiring your Digilux 2!

You've already noticed the wonderful colours that the D2's sensor produces but if you're shooting raw with the D2 you might find that it takes 6 or 7 seconds to write the picture information to the card, which is fine for static subjects but not so good in a 'street' situation where, annoyingly, you might be missing pictures while the D2 writes to the card.

Many of us here shoot the D2 in jpeg only which gets past this problem in most situations because the jpegs write to the card much quicker and the D2's jpeg processing engine is very good.  I reserve raw for when I'm shooting pictures that I know I'm going to process myself and where the write delay won't be a problem.  I hope this helps!

I appreciate the feedback! I actually don't mind the delay in shooting at all, i read about it before purchasing the camera and somewhat prefer it.

I've never owned a "real digital camera" before recently (other than the Kodak digicam i had back in 2005 lol).

I used to shoot a roll of film every once in a while for fun and would ordinarily use the manual mode on my phone. That said shooting on a phone is incredibly boring nor does it "feel" like a camera/photography even though you can get great shots out of most modern phones.

Film developing has also become some what of a pain. I really miss being able to get my shots developed & scanned within a couple of hours for like $5-7. Now you have to send it out to get a similar price and scan it yourself anyway. That or develop on your own which i haven't tried yet because it seems cumbersome.

So I've resorted to getting a couple of "old" digital cameras now that they are at relatively reasonable prices.

Something about these earlier leica's just have much more of a "film" feel to me. Hoping that since there is less of a barrier and getting results is more "instant" i will shoot a lot more than i used to.

Loving my "new" Digilux 2, especially the colours from the CCD sensor.  Modern software helps too - ISO400 is usable now with decent noise processing in a way that was a struggle with my Lumix LC1 years ago.  Waiting for a new skin to come from CameraLeather.com because well, why not!  In the meantime a few early photos from what is now my daily carry:
