jaapv Posted December 26, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted December 26, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) My DMR has started producing a ticking sound from time to time, which even goes one for a while after being switched off. Has anybody else had this strange phenomena?
topoxforddoc Posted December 26, 2012 Share #2  Posted December 26, 2012 Jaap,  Nope. Not with either of my two DMRs. Presumably it’s working fine.  Charlie
pop Posted December 26, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted December 26, 2012 I presume it is still mounted on the camera. Does it do that while the ambient temperature is changing?
wildlightphoto Posted December 26, 2012 Share #4 Â Posted December 26, 2012 The DMR is trying to boot up. I solved the problem by sending the camera to Leica USA. It was not an expensive repair.
Overgaard Posted December 26, 2012 Share #5 Â Posted December 26, 2012 My DMR has started producing a ticking sound from time to time, which even goes one for a while after being switched off. Has anybody else had this strange phenomena? Â My R8/DMR has done that for years. When I put in a new battery I had to turn the camera on and then off. Then it usually stops. It's like the camera is not completely turned off. Â The R9/DMR combo doesn't. Â If it could get fixed it would be nice. But I have learned to live with it. jaapv Posted December 27, 2012 Author Share #9 Â Posted December 27, 2012 Does anyone know that the DMR's electronic problem is still repairable? Â Cheers. Â No. No electronic repairs are possible any more.
jaapv Posted December 27, 2012 Author Share #10 Â Posted December 27, 2012 Thanks for the reassuring answers, guys. Still, it has shaken my confidence of the reliability of the DMR a bit. That puts more pressure on me to crystallize my replacement strategy.
black J Posted December 27, 2012 Share #11 Â Posted December 27, 2012 No. No electronic repairs are possible any more. Â What a shame, the IQ of DMR is awesome, especially the color, I assume the DMR is better than M9 in color rendition, my Summilux 50 E60 has been sitting in the closet for a long long time... earleygallery Posted December 27, 2012 Share #12 Â Posted December 27, 2012 From the title I thought this was going to be a joke along the lines that the DMR was counting down its last days until the arrival of the new M.....
algrove Posted December 27, 2012 Share #13 Â Posted December 27, 2012 That puts more pressure on me to crystallize my replacement strategy. Â Upon reading the thread subject at first I thought you meant by "Tick-Tock DMR" that the DMR was ticking down for its final explosion just before the new M becomes available. hoppyman Posted December 28, 2012 Share #14 Â Posted December 28, 2012 My DMR has started producing a ticking sound from time to time, ...... Jaap, possibly it is a countdown until you are compelled to place a pre-order for an M typ 240 Resistance is futile.

robsteve Posted December 28, 2012 Share #17 Â Posted December 28, 2012 No. No electronic repairs are possible any more. Â Jaap: Â I had asked Leica about DMR repairs a few week ago and they can do physical repairs, switches and etc, but if there are problems with the circuit boards, they have no replacements. Â No question buying a DMR after it was discontinued is financially risky. OTOH I'm still delighted with the image quality it produces. If I had waited instead for the M solution the photos I've made would not have been the same. IMHO it was money well spent.

A couple years agonwhen you asked about this the DMR was already over five years old and any sane camera representative would not suggest a purchase of such old technology.
