I'll remind you if I ever make a return visit there.  In fairness, though, you did say earlier in that same thread that the only reason that you might get the M would be to use R lenses (but you were disappointed in the forecasted EVF).  We all change minds. If I am going to get one, I'd better move fast, because in the time of a few post, "offering" prices went from £5000 to USD18,000 !!! The ebay link for US $4,599.95 is beginning to look like quite a bargain . Alas, the 28-90 may be a bit on the pricey side for my pocketbook.  Regarding wlaidlaw's suggestion of considering Zeiss Contax CX/Y 28-85 zoom instead, I am unfamiliar with that lens, but will look into it.  Thanks again. Part Number DMW-MA2M.  If we were closer I'd let you borrow one of mine to try out since I have two which seldom get use anymore.  Algrove,  I have bought a Metabones one. It looks absolutely identical to the Voigtlander one but is half the price. I'am also looking forward to trying it on the M240 as well as the 21-35 and the 80-200mm lenses. These Lenses are superb on my Canon DSLR.  Erwin Puts states, that the 28-90 at 5.6 has an impeccable performance that easily surpasses the quality of the Summicron 50 mm lens.  Good Luck  Ken. These are advertised with a specially adapted Nikon to M adapter with the correct coding for the M-240 and so that it brings up the correct framelines (Malcolm Taylor did this work for me). Â I'm selling as I've been able to source some alternatives that more closely suit my needs - but both lenses have been tested on the M-240 and produce excellent results. No disturbing noise or smearing effect at 800 iso on that 7 years old camera. Proof that CMOS sensors can be very good when makers don't listen to marketers too much. Nice  Back on topic: not that prices for R lenses have gone through the roof, some of the pre-G Nikkor lenses are decent. Some of the early ones are one-touch, which personally I don't get on with, but they switched to two-ring at some point.  Optical quality varies a bit, but the best ones are solid, and have decent optics.  I've got an 80-200/2.8 two-ring in a cupboard, which is excellent, and I might pickup a 28-50 or so too.  - Steve  Edit to add: Just seen that the 28-50/3.5 was a one touch, oh well Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

wlaidlaw Posted March 6, 2013 Share #754 Â Posted March 6, 2013 Playing with the M240 this morning, I have found disappointingly, that the coding pits in the Leitax R to M adapter are wrongly machined. They are about half a pit too far clockwise and will therefore not pick up on the LED's to activate the R menu. The coding pits on my Amedeo Muscelli Visoflex replacement adapter are correctly positioned and pick up immediately. Given the high price of the Leitax adapter, I will want this corrected FOC.
