Anyone considering pruining their collection due to the M8?

A quick sanity check:

Is anyone considering selling off part of their film M collection due to the acquisition of an M8? So far, my only quibbles with the M8 are a bit of magenta, correctable with my Heliopan IR cut filter, and a never-perfectly-clean sensor. I have shot embarrassingly little film since the M8 arrived, and I'm considering pruning the collection. Thoughts?

Eric,

After deciding to get the M8, I sold off all my Contax film gear - RX plus 8 lenses, G2 plus 5 lenses and various accessories. I had rarely used them over the last few years and I was pleasantly surprised at the prices they fetched.

Since i know the M8 (july 2006) i added the wonderful grandma M3 to my MP and got rid of my Hexar RF instead (which i sometimes regret). But two film bodies left are perfect and these should be Leicas (plus M8).

After all my M6 and myself have been though how could I sell it?

My M3 is probably a little less safe, but it's such an iconic camera that I'll probably hang onto it.

My Hexar RF is a paperweight that will probably end its life in a bin or sold for parts.

I refuse to answer on any buying and selling which may let my wife know of any on going transactions which would immediately result into the purchase of some Manola Blanak high dollar shoes, I may be crazy but I ain't stupid . Bad English intended. :D

I sold my M7 to buy the M8. It was not being used since I bought Nikon digital equipment starting several years ago. Some of the Nikon equipment is certainly not safe. I need the M35mm Lux for my stash.

My absolutely mint iiig, an excellent condition Summarit with filters / hood, and a minty re-issue LTM summicron will be put up for sale.

My iiif with col. summicron / 2.8 elmar will stay and my M5 will stay.

Everything else film was already sold, so the answer is yes.

Best,

Ray

I sold M7 and one MP in exchange of M8 black last year. May sell another MP and a M4 for a M8 silver, but just wait for the right time to make sure there is no other version of M8 to come out soon, but will do it eventually.

My M6 is in the shop window. My M3 (if I ever recover it, it has been with Shintaro for a paint for over a year now and not a sign of life from Shintaro for that time either) will be kept, but not replaced if indeed lost, as I fear.

Well you should really never have one camera and a backup is really mandatory for Pro's but for the hobbyist having a flim and a digital body is a great way to go. If i had two film than i would sell one and put that money to the M8 or other lenses. Now i would keep one film body that is not electronic at all, that way there is a camera that can handle extreme cold

I sold my M7 and one M6ttl, left with one M6ttl and with my R-D1 as backup. After selling the two bodies and my 28 Elm IVth version (I also have the summicron), buying the M8 was rather easy.

I sold my stuff to Badger Camera and Jeff was extremely friendly, generous and trusty. (he send me the M8 before having all of my stuff-which was in the repair at the moment). He also gave me exactly the prices for the used equippment that he estimated in the phone before, which I find an unusual experience with trade in.

I would like to buy a nice painted MP, but could sell two M4-2 to help finance that.

I'll keep all other film camera so far.
