After Andy's thread, here's a lunar eclipse shot from tonight, about ten minutes ago at totality. Not the world's sharpest, but there's not much light. Shot on R9/DMR, 280/2.8 APO (old) plus 2x extender (old). Never believed the moon went red, but it does!

Best wishes,

Charlie

Charlie,

Your picture is wonderful. I watched this eclipse last night, but did not have the equipment to take this picture.

When you look at it for a while, you get an incredible 3D sensation. And the color is really very well rendered. It really looked like that.

Congratulations,

Gérard

Here was my try at it. Tough to get a steady shot. On the longer exposures when it was eclispsed, I think some of it was the moon moving. I used the DMR with 400mm and 2x APO. The first was at 800iso, the second at 400iso. One second exposures for both.

Rob,

Great shots. I had problems with getting a sharp moon when in totality. There's enough movement in the sky to blur the images on long exposures. I had some of mine on for 16 secs and that was way too long. Anything much more than a second or two was difficult. It was certainly a fun way to pass an hour or two last night.

Best wishes,

Charlie
