mirekti Posted March 5, 2014 Share #245 Posted March 5, 2014 Is this lens comparable to Noctilux in terms of subject isolation, and rendering character?
Gerard Posted March 5, 2014 Share #246 Posted March 5, 2014 Is this lens comparable to Noctilux in terms of subject isolation, and rendering character? I'll let you make up your own mind... Nocti owners will say the f1 is vastly different to the f0.95, let alone how they compare to the 75 Lux. I believe, however, the 75 Lux when wide open delivers that special something you get with a Noctilux. It renders skin so softly, yet it remains amazingly sharp, and has dreamy bokeh. It is cheaper, too. I'd cry if anything ever happened to mine. I use it more than any other lens I have. Welcome, dear visitor! pico Posted March 5, 2014 Share #247 Posted March 5, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is this lens comparable to Noctilux in terms of subject isolation, and rendering character? The DOF is more shallow than the Noctilux. Rendering is your call. Sent from my Etcha-sketch.

Textures are sublime with this lens, for me more organic and interesting than any other lens I have. I must pop mine on and go out as rubicon light is where it shines too:cool:
mirekti Posted March 5, 2014 Share #249 Posted March 5, 2014 This lens was really high on my list when I was jumping into the rangefinder world. It really has something special. As I already own 75mm Cron I just don't see a way I'd explain it to my wife that I'll have two lenses with the same focal lenght. Of course, if I could get it, I'd keep the Cron too, as it also has something special, just in another way. Anyhow, I envy you, lucky owners. I'll digress a bit, but I always wondered why there was no lens specific subforum in the photo section. 75mm lux would shine there.

Ralf Posted March 6, 2014 Share #252 Posted March 6, 2014 Does she have to know ... ? As the saying goes, "I hope she never sells my gear for the price I told her I paid for it" A while back here in this forum, somebody had a nice saying: "Wifes and Leica receipts, may they never meet."

MarkP Posted March 6, 2014 Share #255 Posted March 6, 2014 (edited) Sensible woman, more Leica you buy less money left for other vices. Her vice is handbags, the purchases of which I fully support. My wife loves me very much. :) I think it's ludicrous that a leather sack with a bit of metal furniture can sell for the same price as my Leica lenses. She thinks it's ludicrous that a lump of metal and glass can sell for the same price as a her handbags. Anyhow, on counting her handbags and my lenses I have some catching up to do. Hmmm Edited March 6, 2014 by MarkP

I love the form factor of my cameras and lenses but am not into displaying Leica porn. The handbags are to be worn but the cameras are to be used.
