Bill W Posted February 22, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted February 22, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just talked to Tony Rose at Popflash concerning my 24 and he advised me that the price for a new Noc has gone up $1,500. You better act quick if you want one "cheeeeeeeep" RIGHT!

steich Posted February 22, 2007 Share #5  Posted February 22, 2007 Any other dealer with the "new" price? B&H´s page still has the old ones. So leicabeimeister.de here in Germany. Stefan
fotografr Posted February 22, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted February 22, 2007 This causes me to think Leica do not want to keep producing this lens, but rather make the price so high their existing stock will last a long time. Whatever the case, I'm sure glad I have mine.
ptomsu Posted February 22, 2007 Share #7 Â Posted February 22, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am so happy I bought a new one last year for a cheap price :-)))
marknorton Posted February 22, 2007 Share #8 Â Posted February 22, 2007 That's a hefty increase. More than an M8. Seems clear that if you have an unused 30% letter, you should be buying one of these.
Dan States Posted February 22, 2007 Share #9 Â Posted February 22, 2007 I agree with the comment above...that would be a "please don't buy one" price. Could be they want to break all ties to the Elcan plant where these have been made. They are certainly not worth their current price, let alone $5300. wparsonsgisnet Posted February 22, 2007 Share #10 Â Posted February 22, 2007 I just spoke with my dealer who said the cost increase is due to some rare gas that is used in the manufacture of one of the lens elements. The price of this gas has gone thru the roof.
marknorton Posted February 22, 2007 Share #11 Â Posted February 22, 2007 If it's carbon dioxide they're after, anyone got a Hummer? Â Seriously Bill, do you have any more information?

Yes, I was on the fence about the Nocti or something else with the 30% discount. I think the new price has helped make the choice. Time to get my order out to Solms. bnelson Posted February 22, 2007 Share #13  Posted February 22, 2007 I've got one but with this price increase I might buy another. Just kidding... Wow  Bill
dannirr Posted February 22, 2007 Share #14 Â Posted February 22, 2007 The price rise is likely due to the rise in price, and short supply of helium. Â As an example: to fill my gas balloon for a flight a year ago cost $4500. Last month we paid $7800 to fill the balloon for the 3 day flight. And we were lucky to find a supplier who would sell us the gas at all. Â Danni
wparsonsgisnet Posted February 22, 2007 Share #15  Posted February 22, 2007 If it's carbon dioxide they're after, anyone got a Hummer? Seriously Bill, do you have any more information?  Mark, I was about to give you Bromfield Camera's phone number, but it's in Boston, just across the Puddle.  I only know what he told me: that the increase is due almost entirely to the increase in cost of the single lens element, and that the cost rise in the element is due to the cost of the gas used to make the glass. Guest guy_mancuso Posted February 22, 2007 Share #16 Â Posted February 22, 2007 Wow that is pretty darn high in price. Now with our 30 percent off don't we have until June to decide and would the current price be effective from that price sheet.

Do you know who is making the glass right now, Bill? or are them still using the old new stock from Midland?
LichMD Posted February 22, 2007 Share #18 Â Posted February 22, 2007 B&H doesn't reflect the price increase, but they are backordered. Adorama's website does reflect the price increase, $5495. Adorama is also backordered.
