OK... so I have my M8 FS in the classified section. I get a buyer who agrees to bank transfer. I send him the numbers and get an email next day saying the bank needs my addresss also. Next I get an email saying he has to cancel but as compensation wants to put $100 in my Paypal account... so he asks me for my Paypal address...

I dunno... I recently tried to sell my 1DS3 on Ebay and had I not been switched on I would have lost it. Scammer was working me.

Difficult, isn't it?

He may genuinely be a decent person who wants to reimburse you for the inconvenience he caused you.

However, with the number of scammers online one cannot be too careful.

I agree with Bill that the Administrator should be able advise you regarding this.

could be perfectly legit... could be scam foreplay...

if the 'buyer' already has your email address (I assume you have been corresponding somehow), why not just tell them to send the paypal payment to that address? Even if it is not linked to your paypal account you can link it afterwards if they actually send the money. If they don't send the money you haven't given them anything they didn't already have...

If they can put together enough personal information it makes it easier to run a scam. Hard to know for sure but it sounds like the beginnings of a fishing expedition.

yea that is what I am thinking. Sounds like he is just after personal details. I feel like I am being targeted after the recent Ebay attempt to relieve me of my 1DS3. Just a coincidence I guess  I have purchased with no problems at all... selling seems to be a risky proposition.

I am amazed. I recently conducted a little exercise in order to determine if it would be possible to evoke a generous response merely by making a request. In an funny way, I believe that may have been fulfilled in a most unexpected manner.
