The flood is getting more serious. My cars parked in my golf resort house may not safe any more so I moved them today and took some pictures.

1st. picture is about people parking their cars on elevated toll gate entrance, illegal but may be necessary.

2nd. and 3rd. picture are about how I keep my car safe from flooding.

That sounds great.

Do you have a (Leica) picture what that looks like?

Best, K-H.

Some misunderstanding due to my (poor) English?

With Leica standard I had the difficult specifications of the M mount in my mind. As we all learned they are from the olde days of film but due to the lens design had to be followed in digital Leicas with all the problems when wide angle lenses are attached.

Now comes Sony or xyz maker with a cam that makes the usage of M lenses possible by an adapter. Neither Sony nor Oly or Pana have these old specifications in mind, this I wandted to point out.

The NEX7 has the same pixel pitch as m4/3 and I'm afraid that using a really wide lens will deliver the same 'mud' at the corners as with my Oly E-P2 but with bigger files.

That's all.......

Somewhere I wrote that people with an assortment of SLR lenses might be in a better position due to the different lens design compare to the M standard. Who knows (at the moment)?

Thank you much Pete. Those pics look quite good with the Elmarit 21/2.8 asph. The latter gives rather good results with the R-D1 as well but lenses like CV 21/4 or wider lenses produce disturbing vignetting with the Epson. Would be interesting to see how the Nex cameras behave with lenses like that.

My only problem is to know if those new Sony cameras are useless or not with M wides. I would be quite happy to see significant results with such lenses but i'm like sister Ann, i don't see anything coming.

Here is the link to the galleries of a Leica Forum member (linked in another thread) that has shot both with Nex-5n and GXR M-mount.

Sony NEX Photo Gallery by Carl Schofield at pbase.com

I hope Carl will not be afraid if I'm posting this link, it has been very useful for me and I want to thank him for the effort he did.

(by the way, I tend to prefer the GXR over the Nex 5n)

I've read somewhere that Steve Huff is getting his hands on some leica wides this week to get some sample photos together.

Pete

Having read a couple of Huff's articles, I wouldn't hold my breath on getting a conclusive evaluation on this issue. Reichmann in his review on Luminous Landsvaope of the NEX-5n doesn't really show how that camera performs with M-lenses either. It may be a while before an convincing a review comes out on this, as I would expect from Sean Reid.

At dpreview, Ricoh forum, a guy posted a well executed comparison between 5N and GXR-M with the CV 15mm and 28 f3.5 mm lens respectively. The winner does not come as a surprise, but the difference is much much clearer than I would have ecpexted. The GXR wins hands down re corners, sharpness micro contrast. But go have a look yourself.

You refer to this thread i guess. The Nex needs more sharpening to be fair as the Ricoh doesn't have an AA filter. Soft results in the center might suggest some focus problems with the Sony as well. Now the Ricoh's superiority looks obvious on edges, which doesn't come as a surprise given that it is aimed at using M lenses contrary to the Sony.

That's the one. Without jumping to conclusions, but for those looking for an M body alternative or back up to a Leica, the GXR looks like the logic choice.

That's just a comparison of jpg images.

I need to see a comparison based on raw files.

Thanks, K-H.

I really have to ask: why the $%^& do people write articles like this?

For starters, if you own an M9 (with lens) and you shoot JPG, seriously...

"DiaF".

In fact, I have coined a new internet abbreviation: FaBaJ. (find a bridge and jump).

For the love of Jesus... please remove yourself from the gene pool.
