Do not know it in detail, just remember seeing it on my way to Govent Garden many years ago.

The next one shows visitors entering the building exactly as instructed by the architect.

To give a bit of background on the round tower - if anyone is interested - it will be a hive of activity today after the collapse of Thomas Cook.....

Part of the building (a rectangular block it is joined to with a two level bridge) houses the Civil Aviation Authority who are organising the repatriation of 150,000 travellers atm. It was designed by Siefert + Partners for Harry Hyams like it’s more famous cousin “Centrepoint”, was originally callled Space House and was similarly held empty for several years for tax reasons. It has a car park ramp spiralling down past what was originally it’s own on-site petrol station but now has an ugly blue security fence around it at street level which rather ruins things.

Hello Wally,

Nice photo.

Since I have been there recently It would not be appropriate for me to say.

Best Regards,

Michael

Thanks Michael. Hope the weather was better when you were there. The camera only came out of the bag a few times between rainstorms. Regards, Wally

This is by IM Pei, and is an old picture. I haven’t made a colour picture in a long while. Ektachrome.

Well, that was quick. Indeed it is the main building of Place Ville Marie. I believe it is still officially the Royal Bank Building. I think it is still their official head office, even though their "in practice" head office is in their Toronto building (Royal Bank Plaza). I worked in this building for a few years (although not for that Bank).

Your tune Monsieur Lang.
