wlaidlaw Posted December 4, 2020 Share #3421 Posted December 4, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Could this be the Maryland State House in Annapolis? I took a photo of it in Infra-red on a freezing cold December day in 2009 with my M8 Wilson
Advertisement Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Hi wlaidlaw, Take a look here "Do you know this building?" Game Thread. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Michael Geschlecht Posted December 4, 2020 Share #3422 Posted December 4, 2020 (edited) Hello Wilson, What you wrote is interesting. I was thinking that it looks similar to where I went to undergraduate school: University of Maryland, College Park. But it isn't. That building is not there. But a number of similar 1's are. Also interesting: The clock dial looks like the face & hands of a 1960's Rolex. adan Posted December 4, 2020 Share #3423 Posted December 4, 2020 Not in Maryland - but coincidentally, it is an M8 picture.

You can probably see below why I thought it might be Annapolis. Was there a standard design for state houses/state court houses? Wilson Welcome, dear visitor! NigelG Posted December 4, 2020 Share #3426 Posted December 4, 2020 I also thought the upper section looked maybe a bit Bostonian (Old State House meets Old North Church etc) or New England
adan Posted December 4, 2020 Share #3427 Posted December 4, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Boston/Harvard - no, not quite. New England - yes.
adan Posted December 10, 2020 Share #3428 Posted December 10, 2020 Need a hint? Two US Presidents have walked the halls of this building - and at least one US President visited this institution (before the building was constructed).
war Posted December 18, 2020 Share #3429 Posted December 18, 2020 George W. Bush and his father, Presidents both, graduated from this prep school, Phillips Academy, Andover Mass. Newer than it looks the building is Samuel Phillips Hall, 1924, by Chas. Platt and Guy Lowell in a Colonial Revival style. Nice Photo.
adan Posted December 18, 2020 Share #3430 Posted December 18, 2020 War - you got it! The third President to visit the school (but not this building) was George Washington, in 1789 (some versions say he gave the Commencement Address - unconfirmed).
