jdlaing Posted August 17, 2018 Share #2743 Posted August 17, 2018 Correct. Your turn.
wlaidlaw Posted August 17, 2018 Share #2744 Posted August 17, 2018 Wow - total guess. I was becalmed off Staten Island about 25 years ago, when our skipper refused to drop the useless sails and put the motor on. So spent the best part of 2 hours drifting past Fort Wadsworth. We mutinied and got us back to the bar in the marina on Long Island as quickly as possible at full throttle. We had not realised that the owner, who had been a Commander, still applied US Naval rules and his boat was dry, not even a can of lite beer! Good rule for racing but not for gentle cruising. I will look out something tomorrow. Wilson

AZach Posted August 20, 2018 Share #2748 Posted August 20, 2018 Can recognize the flag of Croatia but unfortunately not the building in question.
wlaidlaw Posted August 20, 2018 Share #2749 Posted August 20, 2018 Not Croatia. I think it may be either a regional flag or an establishment flag.
war Posted August 20, 2018 Share #2750 Posted August 20, 2018 Castle (somewhat altered) on the Riviera at Ls Napoule.
wlaidlaw Posted August 21, 2018 Share #2751 Posted August 21, 2018 Correct. Chateau La Napoule was originally built in the 14th Century by the Countess of Villneuve and then rebuilt a number of times over the years. The current castle is in external appearance the 19th Century building, from when it was being used as a glass factory. It was bought in the 1920's by the American Sculptor Henry Clews and his wife Marie, who restored the Chateau and its gardens. It is still owned by the art foundation set up by the Clews and is open to the public. There is a nice restaurant nearby: La Voile Bleue du Bistrot du Port or an extremely expense vegetarian one: L'Oasis - €100 for a plate of salad.with a few nuts and a flower on top. Here is an uncropped photo of the Chateau and surroundings, marina etc. I was sailing round Les Isles de Lerin at the time. Wilson Welcome, dear visitor! war Posted September 18, 2018 Share #2753 Posted September 18, 2018 This has been up for a long time, would someone else like to post something to get this going again.
wlaidlaw Posted September 18, 2018 Share #2754 Posted September 18, 2018 I just tried something to see if it worked. If you upload any image to Google Images it will search for near identical and immediately tell you the result. I will not post the result of this search as I think that is cheating. war Posted September 19, 2018 Share #2758 Posted September 19, 2018 Gotta be an opera house, theater or concert hall, with that loft-space. It is, and one of the best acoustically.
jdlaing Posted September 19, 2018 Share #2759 Posted September 19, 2018 Colon Theater, Buenos Aires
stuny Posted September 20, 2018 Share #2760 Posted September 20, 2018 I think Jim is correct, and I should have thought of the Teatro Colon since a significant part of Buenos Aires is self-consciously Paris-like.
