The thing that made it tricky is that the reflective surfaces look black in your photo.

For the record it's Sumida Hokusai Museum.

The internal faces of the "cuts" - while structurally glazed - are covered with an external perforated metal screen system (a kind of giant Expamet) and combined with the low light levels in the circulation spaces they read very much as per the photo.....a touch of the shadow slider might have helped though ;)

Is that a Thambar architecture shot? (!)

The colours and decoration suggest Sweden or the Baltic states - but maybe the snow is a distraction.......

Yes, Thambar is correct. So much for the lens :)

Sweden and the Baltic in terms of Europe is a good guess. However, a more southern EU member state will be more appropriate. One clue: the castle originally was designed to outshine Versaiiles. Due to some war a budget version ended up to be built. The center building, however, reflects the original design.

Here is a picture of one of the side wings:

One very odd fact about this building, is that according to some people, the legitimate heir to the British Throne, currently lives there 😁

Wilson

Yes, a waiver of the Act of Settlement of 1701 could pave the way for claims regarding the British throne. A very intereisting post-Brexit scenario. Rather unlikely,  yet not impossible since the decisive requirement might simply be admitting a roman catholic to the throne  😱

Thumbs up for Wilson who obviously recognised the edifice.

Hello Nigel,

Could we be in Scotland?

Best Regards,

Michael

Michael, I guess you refer to my initial posting. So, I take the liberty to answer.

It is not in Scotland. One more hint: the stained glass windows of Glasgow cathedral were manufactured in the town you find the castle.

I guess having seen this in connection to an autumnal beer-consuming festival, but not quite sure.....

You are definitely right!

And concerning the British throne, the Duke has denied any interest in this job 😄

At least three persons know the name of this place, but do not seem interested in going further.  I would like to see this thread going again so....... Nymphenburg Palace near Munich. The second photo, the stables.
