wlaidlaw Posted May 2, 2017 Share #2123 Posted May 2, 2017 The third triangulation "key" is the swath of trees along the Thames - only one place they occur, the Inner Temple Gardens. BTW, I've actually had lunch in the revolving restaurant of the BT Tower - 50 (oh, my, Lord!) years ago - so it grabs my attention whenever I see it. Prawn cocktail and lamb chops, IIRC. Andy, I also remember when either the revolving restaurant on the GPO tower (run by Rocco Forte if I remember correctly) or the roof top bar at the Hilton were the places to take a young lady, if you wanted to impress. stuny Posted May 20, 2017 Share #2130 Posted May 20, 2017 I seem to remember a Hindu temple like this in Hong Kong, though I do not know its name. Or was it in Singapore? Long time ago. There's a pretty spectacular one in Colombo, Sri Lanka, but I'm certain this is not it - It's peak was flatter.

wlaidlaw Posted May 20, 2017 Share #2133 Posted May 20, 2017 (edited) Not as far north as that but correct sub-continent. The whole building is very recognisable and well known but this obviously is just the top of one part. If folks are still struggling after another couple of days, I will widen the crop. wlaidlaw Posted May 22, 2017 Share #2137 Posted May 22, 2017 India is correct. Here is a slightly bigger crop. Wilson Welcome, dear visitor! wlaidlaw Posted May 22, 2017 Share #2139 Posted May 22, 2017 The Meenakshi Amman Temple, Madurai. Correct - your turn. Our hotel arranged an invite to a ceremony at this temple in the evening, where one of the goddesses was being taken from her shrine in a palanquin to be blessed. It was like a scene from an Indiana Jones movie, with the priests all stripped to their waists, using flaming torches, parading a curtained gold encrusted silver palanquin through the huge stone blocks of the inner temple, scattering flower petals and chanting. They had asked us not to bring cameras of any description and having obeyed this strictly (not even a tiny Minox C), we were a bit annoyed to see most of the other invited guests, mostly Indian nationals, snapping away with their phones. It would have been perfect for my M240 and Noctilux. This was one of the highlights of our 4 week trip round southern India. It helped that the hotel in Madurai, which had been the British governor's palace, overlooking the whole of Madurai, was excellent. Wilson Welcome, dear visitor!
