I'm pretty sure that this is where I took some of my first 'proper' photographs 35 years ago, on out-of-date Kodachrome (all that was available in this place then) and a wonderful Contax 139 - but having slowed this thread down so much recently I'll leave it to someone else....  :)

It was just a guess on chance; I was there in 2014 but I don't recognize this precise spot.

 

Which building is this? Full name please  :)

At the very southernmost tip of Italy indeed. The Basilica Santa Maria de Finibus Terrae.

That's right, meaning the cathedral of holy mary of the end of the earth, :)

Evidently a large church. Not the best picture, but better than I expected from looking at the first scan. You get the idea.
