Michael Geschlecht Posted April 26, 2016 Share #1242 Posted April 26, 2016 (edited) Hello Mustographer, I would guess that this is a building in the USofA that was built in the late 19th or early 20th Century with a fence that was added in the later middle of the 20th Century. Musotographer Posted April 27, 2016 Share #1243 Posted April 27, 2016 Hi Michael - I think you're right about the period, though I must check precisely, but it's not the USA, or even that continent.......... The fence is 21st Century Best wishes, Christopher
Michael Geschlecht Posted April 27, 2016 Share #1244 Posted April 27, 2016 (edited) Hello Christopher, Could this be a British Embassy/Consulate somewhere in either Australia or New Zealand?Best Regards, Michael Edited April 27, 2016 by Michael Geschlecht
Musotographer Posted April 27, 2016 Share #1245 Posted April 27, 2016 Michael - It is certainly British, and though it does have a link with Australia it is nowhere near either of those two countries. It doesn't have an embassy function either. This picture is of one of several structures which make up a larger ensemble.

Musotographer Posted April 28, 2016 Share #1249 Posted April 28, 2016 Michael, I'm not sure there is room for anything like this on Gibraltar - at least on the British side! It is in Europe and is British, so it's most likely to be in....? - oh, and it houses an extremely English activity, one that mystifies much of the rest of the world....... The date is 1895-7. spylaw4 Posted May 1, 2016 Share #1252 Posted May 1, 2016 Not being a fan of cricket I am at a bit of a loss as to which stadium it is, but (pure guesswork here) it does look very grand - so how about Oval?
Michael Hiles Posted May 1, 2016 Share #1253 Posted May 1, 2016 This looks like the Kia Oval associated with Surrey County. Maybe that is the same as Spylaw4's guess. If Yes - he has precedence.
Musotographer Posted May 1, 2016 Share #1254 Posted May 1, 2016 Quite right both of you. This is the street view of the main pavilion, 1895-7, with it's new portico, built just a few years ago. The building is in the Arts and Crafts style, so the new classically influenced portico is not very appropriate, but it does look quite good, and is certainly better than what had been there previously. It must be your turn now, spylaw4...... Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members!
