Yep, me too. Sold my original M8 after three years - was a bit worried about the shutter. ASAP I bought an M8.2 - today it would be the last camera to leave my stable. I did have an M9P for a month. Sold it. I feel the M8.2 is a better camera w/better bw conversions and color. You just have to know what to do with the files.

Best (digital) travel camera ever!

Agree . I have upgraded my M8 to M 8.2 and it is my best camera, after M6. Thinking of M Monochrome but never want to get rid of this M8.2:D

Just got mine 1 week ago and I am learning the ropes.

Most of the issue is getting the focus nailed, but when it is right the image can be very good.

Is it still possible to get an M8 converted to an M8.2?

Here is a shot from today. Straight out of the camera, raw conversion in LR4, no post processing.

No longer an upgrade program, although of course there is a used market.

Note, however, that a fully upgraded M8 is still not identical to an M8.2. The 3 possible upgrades included improved shutter (which also eliminated 1/8000), sapphire screen and/or frame lines (to 2m). The M8.2 also had a different covering, a black dot (on the black camera only), snapshot mode (yuck), black paint (versus black chrome), etc.

Similar sentiments... My chrome M8 developed a vertical line on the sensor, so when sent in to Leica in 2009 I took the opportunity to upgrade the shutter and viewfinder. Expensive, but I like the result. Keep it "forever".

I bought a "bargain" M8 early this year and love it. Over the summer, I found a demo M8 -- perfect condition, including the plastic still on the bottom, with only a few hundred clicks at the New York Leica store and enjoyed having two bodies. I recently traded the newer one for a bit off on an M240 -- the older one is not in the best of shape but has a certain character.

On Christmas night I shot a muted sunset using both the M8 and M240. I liked how the M8 worked with the Elmarit 21 so much better. LFI used the M8 photo in their Master Shots.

I really love the M240 but the M8 is still a wonderful, magical camera. I will keep it for as long as it will let me.
