Advertisement Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Hi jaapv, Take a look here Black Dot M9. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Stealth3kpl Posted March 14, 2011 Author Share #22 Posted March 14, 2011 I asked because I saw an "unopened, brand new M9" on ebay with a black dot. I wondered if it were an unofficial import so wouldn't have the uk warranty and passport.. Pete

Solar B Posted March 14, 2011 Share #25 Posted March 14, 2011 Is there a difference between the "off the production line" M8.2s having black dots and M8s returned from the upgrade, remaining red ... anyway its all a bit academic whichever colour of dot is used ... for resale purposes i would recommend keeping the original dot on the camera. cidereye Posted March 14, 2011 Share #26 Posted March 14, 2011 Just got a couple from DAG. He was working on a couple of lenses for me [dinged a 75, and the hood needed straightening, and the lens recalibration]. Great job, and I now have a black dot M9. Don't know about overseas post, but should be possible. Yes, advertised as out of stock on the DAG site right now but I can also confirm Don does have stock at the moment as I ordered one on Friday from him. Charge was $22.00 + $10.00 shipping to UK/Europe. ($4.00 for US shipping.)

mr_big Posted March 15, 2011 Share #28 Posted March 15, 2011 Popflash has them.
cbretteville Posted March 15, 2011 Share #29 Posted March 15, 2011 Popflash has them. I asked their price, Alex said: "$100 + shipping". I said "I'll pass". I can almost defend the price tag of the new metal hood for the old 35/1.4asph, but this is truly stupid money. Carl

mustafasoleiman Posted March 16, 2011 Share #34 Posted March 16, 2011 I’m seeing if I can make my own. How about making one simple round peg without anything written on it and matching the colour of the body... Let's go stealth all the way! I'd get two for my M9s! I like de-branding! AlanJW Posted March 16, 2011 Share #35 Posted March 16, 2011 Five euro for the logo; 10 euro for the shipping. Jeff 10 Euro for shipping when it would go in a postal envelope with one stamp (regardless of country) is pretty outrageous, And 15 Euro is not that far from DAG's $22. I think for that I will stick with red. I don't see what the big deal is.
timd. Posted March 16, 2011 Share #36 Posted March 16, 2011 ...it would go in a postal envelope with one stamp... well, 3 years ago, when leica shipped two black dots, it looked like this: Welcome, dear visitor! cbretteville Posted March 16, 2011 Share #37 Posted March 16, 2011 10 Euro for shipping when it would go in a postal envelope with one stamp (regardless of country) is pretty outrageous. Leitax lists €10 s/h is a std price regardless of the order. This is similar to what lots of online vendors are doing. They also sell lots of other stuff that would be more expensive to ship than €10. So he makes it up by overcharging on the smaller items. He's got to make a living too. I offset the s/h by ordering three dots and two red lens domes, makes the unit price feel a little better. C
jaapv Posted March 16, 2011 Share #38 Posted March 16, 2011 I ordered three as well, and then noticed max order was 2 No reaction by e-mail yet though.
cbretteville Posted March 16, 2011 Share #39 Posted March 16, 2011 I ordered three as well, and then noticed max order was 2 No reaction by e-mail yet though. Didn't notice that - I did on the lens domes so I only ordered two of those. Well, I payed for three so It'll be interesting to see what happens next. You would think it was more hassle to refund €5 than to drop three in an envelope. One thing I'd forgotten when writing about the shipping charge above: Leitax state that he ships everything by registered mail to improve delivery performance. That has to account for some of the added cost. Carl
Washington Posted March 16, 2011 Share #40 Posted March 16, 2011 Seeing the plastic air-bag packing gave me a laugh because when I get things packed with these from New York (sea-level) by the time they arrive here at 7,500’ the drop in air pressure causes them to expand to the point of bulging bursting boxes.
