jaapv Posted January 18, 2011 Author Share #21 Posted January 18, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Maybe a bit early, but these two actions seem to have cleared up C1 considerably :) I'll report in a few weeks (hopefully not before:()
Advertisement Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Hi jaapv, Take a look here Capture One kernel panic. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
perb Posted January 18, 2011 Share #22 Posted January 18, 2011 What is "CL" and where is it in Preferences? In the C1 prefs Capture One 6 and OpenCL / GPU support OpenCL - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Regards Per
ho_co Posted January 19, 2011 Share #23 Posted January 19, 2011 Thanks, Per. I had heard of OpenCL, but it didn't spark my brain. And although I recently upgraded to Capture One Pro, I haven't been able to talk myself into getting down to work on it. So threads like this are of interest because they highlight features and problems that I'll want to know "real soon now."
archi4 Posted January 19, 2011 Share #24 Posted January 19, 2011 It is under the general preferences (first pane) "use open CL" and a dropdown menu gives you the choice automatic or never. On my wife's iMac which is the last type with a matte screen it works perfectly without problems. On a new iMac which we have it gives the problems I mentioned. Seems that some graphic cards can't handle it. As to speed and advantages, I have seen nothing notable. There are many posts on the GetDPI forum about this same problem and many have also set it to never.
Jamie Roberts Posted January 19, 2011 Share #25 Posted January 19, 2011 {snipped}As to speed and advantages, I have seen nothing notable. There are many posts on the GetDPI forum about this same problem and many have also set it to never. I just set mine to "auto" but I don't think my NVidia card, while it supports the standard, has the juice to speed anything up....not that C1 lags anyway, but I'm hoping I can multitask more effectively.... Luke_Miller Posted January 27, 2011 Share #26 Posted January 27, 2011 No kernal panic since I'm on Windows, but C1-6 is most certainly the least stable application I've seen in years. And it does not fail gracefully, usually loss of work occurs. Version 6.1 appears to resolve the issues I was experiencing on my Windows XP installation. Hopefully it will do the same for Mac users. Jamie Roberts Posted February 3, 2011 Share #27 Posted February 3, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) FWIW, I just updated my system drive (SSD!) and video card (nVidia 580) and C1 fairly flies now No problems with 6.1 (on Win 7 64bit). I also needed a new laptop, so I might pick up a Macbook Air since it's light and nicely made. We'll see how C1 gets on with it
jplomley Posted February 3, 2011 Share #28 Posted February 3, 2011 Eager to hear your feedback on the MacBook Air Jamie; I'm also considering picking one up to run my slide shows directly from C1.

Apple is expected to update the whole range of MacBook Air in june and Pro maybe as soon as next march. MB Air Just be delayed by the recent Sandy Bridge Intel processor production glitch. wlaidlaw Posted February 12, 2011 Share #30 Posted February 12, 2011 I did have kernel panics on C1 V5 pro. I spoke at length to Jakub at P1. He suggested that, after deactivating on that machine, I vacuum my system for all C1 files, not just in applications and pictures but in library/application support, preferences, caches, start up agents, receipts etc etc. After this you do a fresh reinstall, where you will need to re-enter activation code and your account details. I had far fewer issues after this. I went through the same routine when installing V6 Pro. Although not 100% stable, I have not had kernel panics. I have been using it on 2007 iMac, 2008 core 2 MacBook Air and 2009 13" MacBook Pro. I was suffering frequent SBOD's (spinning beach balls of death) on the MBP but I think that was down to a hard disc issue. Since fitting one of the new Seagate Momentus Hybrid (combined rotating and SSD) drives, this issue has gone away, along with a significant improvement in speed of my MBP. A very good £100 investment. Wilson

george + Posted February 15, 2011 Share #32 Posted February 15, 2011 These guys, I mean the Phase One folks, will not give up. Version 6.1.1 is out today. It seems to have fixed the problems I had with the 64 bit version on my Win 7 system.
