wlaidlaw Posted February 18, 2023 Share #141 Posted February 18, 2023 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I paid around half what they are asking for the same Canon lens from Japan but that was around 7 years ago and prices may have changed since. My Canon lens is usually to be found on my Leotax K, which I bought to get a pair of the excellent Leotax wind on spools. These sit in my two most used Barnacks, the IIIa with MOOLY and my IIIg. I had intended to sell the Leotax with a Leica spool inside (I have a number of these) but it was so nice (and worth so little), I decided to keep it. (Owner's own words). My advice is to stay away.

wlaidlaw Posted October 16, 2023 Share #147 Posted October 16, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Jean-Claude, I found Wordpress.com very helpful folk when I was trying to set up a website and get it hosted but the process is pretty technical and indexing also difficult. Not as comprehensive a service but much easier to navigate is Squarespace.com. Wilson

DenverSteve Posted October 20 Share #151 Posted October 20 (edited) I am a Leica photographer, not a vintage Leica enthusiast (or I might purchase this). I found this while surfing Ebay and thought someone herein might like this. I have no association with this equipment, or the seller. If I was into vintage Leica film equipment, I would already have this coming to me just for the cool factor. Vintage Leica Ernst Leitz Wetzlar Camera Set – Made in Ger (Serial No. 591922) $2,500usd. 📸 Vintage Leica Ernst Leitz Wetzlar Camera Set – Made in Germany (Serial No. 591922) A beautifully preserved Leica D.R.P. Ernst Leitz Wetzlar 35mm rangefinder camera set, made in Germany in the late 1940s – early 1950s. This is a complete collector’s kit featuring the camera body, original lens, additional Leica accessories, and its original velvet-lined display case with manuals and packaging. Included in this set: • Leica camera body — Serial No. 591922, engraved “Ernst Leitz Wetzlar D.R.P.” • Leica Elmar 50mm f/3.5 lens (original to the body) • Additional Leica screw-mount lenses and finder attachments • Filters, leather cases, and vintage Leica accessories • Original “The Synchronized Leica” and Leica-Meter Exposures instruction booklets • Original leather-lined case in excellent vintage condition Condition: • Carefully stored for decades in its original case • Light cosmetic wear consistent with age — a beautiful patina • Shutter fires and mechanics appear functional (not film-tested) • Lenses and optics appear clean to the eye; untested for film performance. Why It’s Special: • Genuine post-WWII Leica, built in Wetzlar, Germany • Features the classic D.R.P. engraving (used before 1954) • Highly collectible — especially as a complete original kit • Represents the precision German craftsmanship Leica is famous for ✨ Perfect for collectors, vintage camera enthusiasts, or anyone who appreciates mid-century engineering and design. Don’t miss the chance to own a true piece of photographic history. Welcome, dear visitor! luigi bertolotti Posted October 20 Share #152 Posted October 20 Yes, is interesting, and also the price is good, considering the Summarit (+ Hektor) and the VIOHH finder, all valuable items
Pyrogallol Posted October 21 Share #153 Posted October 21 Nice, but the price is about double what I would expect.

Thinking better you are not wrong... a quick computation based on ebay prices in the LOW end can bring approximately to : IIIf BD 350 Elmar BS/RS 150 Summarit 400 Hektor 100 Case 50 Bag 100 Finder 150 1300 But if you stay on items in VG conditions and consider the other addons... let's say that 2K could be a not obscene request. Btw... I cannot see the Elmar... but they declare it is... Edited October 21 by luigi bertolotti
wlaidlaw Posted October 21 Share #155 Posted October 21 I would guess that $2000 is an opening figure and could be subject to negotiation. I could have been interested at one time but every item would nowadays be a duplication, which I try and avoid with my collection. I actually think my Wallace Heaton Leica Model 3 (F) outfit pigskin case, is somewhat more attractive than the Leica one. I have been told that they were made for Wallace Heaton by Swaine and Adeney, the military outfitters, still in existence in Piccadilly, London.
