neila Posted January 2, 2007 Share #5 Posted January 2, 2007 I've just bought one of those - unfortunately I've not taken a decent shot of it yet... I wish my M8 would hurry up and arrive!
stuny Posted January 2, 2007 Share #6 Posted January 2, 2007 Allan - As is so frequently the case with your automotive photos these could be studio shots destined for the high quality, expensive, printed in Japan brochure.
Guest lykoudos Posted January 2, 2007 Share #7 Posted January 2, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello Allan, Are astonished, an entering, place take, and as by the landscape float. With such a beautiful car is to fast driving a sin. One sees thereby nothing and is not first of all also seen. Beautiful one and me inspiring admission. Rona!d Posted January 2, 2007 Share #8 Posted January 2, 2007 Neil, congratulations to your new car. Does your Bentley have this USB-plug and can the display handle the DNG-files of the M8? Ron
arminw Posted January 2, 2007 Share #9 Posted January 2, 2007 Well, this is truly a wonderful car and it's on top of my list of things I will never be able to afford. I was walking around Hampstead heath village yesterday and saw one in in real. Black convertible and gorgeous . To the Pictures, they are great and I like the angle and lighting you used to produce them.
neila Posted January 2, 2007 Share #10 Posted January 2, 2007 Neil, congratulations to your new car. Does your Bentley have this USB-plug and can the display handle the DNG-files of the M8? Ron Hi Ron I haven't spotted a USB socket in my Bentley and it's not featured as an option that I can see. However I have heard that some cars (not Bentley specifically) had USB sockets so that MP3's could be played and displayed. Not sure about pictures though..... Peter41951 Posted January 2, 2007 Share #11 Posted January 2, 2007 Great shots, Allan; the first is particularly fine, I think.
farnz Posted January 3, 2007 Share #12 Posted January 3, 2007 Excellent shots, Allan, but you might like to point out that they've foolishly put the steering whell on the wrong side! Pete.
asrubin Posted January 6, 2007 Share #13 Posted January 6, 2007 Great shots, but the steering wheel is for the wife...........

fotografr Posted January 6, 2007 Share #16 Posted January 6, 2007 Great shots, Allan. Image quality and composition are top notch. General comment (not directed at Allan): One thing that has long bothered me about the Leica User Forum is the "look what I can afford" proclamations, both verbal and through posted images. It's boring and gauche. A well known pro football coach used to tell his players, "When you get into the end zone, I do not ever want to see any kind ridiculous demonstrations of self-congratulations. Just act like you've been there before."
robert_parker Posted January 6, 2007 Share #17 Posted January 6, 2007 Allan Beautifully composed and framed as ever (though it could have been a different colour !!) Neil I prefer the colour of your Bently - I think the darker, old fashoined colours suit the car more. Nicely framed photos with interesting composition - I can't wait to see some taken with the M8 !!

Neil I prefer the colour of your Bently - I think the darker, old fashoined colours suit the car more. Nicely framed photos with interesting composition - I can't wait to see some taken with the M8 !! Robert - you're being too kind! They were snaps really.... The diamond black is a nice colour on the Bentley, it seems to pick up the colour around it. I do have one M8 shot - but again, it didn't really work. The light is awful at the moment... PS "General comment (not directed at Allan): One thing that has long bothered me about the Leica User Forum is the "look what I can afford" proclamations, both verbal and through posted images. It's boring and gauche. A well known pro football coach used to tell his players, "When you get into the end zone, I do not ever want to see any kind ridiculous demonstrations of self-congratulations. Just act like you've been there before." I think that's directed at me - hope so anyway. No that's not the purpose of my posts at all - I need no congratulations from me or strangers on a web site. I collect cars as a hobby and am passionate about Leica. The result, rather boringly, is that I take pictures of cars. Please don't judge others by your own measure. If my attempts at photography (which is all they are) are boring and gauche I'm quite happy to stop posting!
fotografr Posted January 8, 2007 Share #19 Posted January 8, 2007 If my attempts at photography (which is all they are) are boring and gauche I'm quite happy to stop posting! My comment had nothing to do with your photography. It appeared to me that your post was more about showing off your new purchase than with photography--which is what this forum is supposed to be about. If I misinterpreted your meaning, please accept my apology.
neila Posted January 8, 2007 Share #20 Posted January 8, 2007 I accept your apology - thank you for making it. As I have posted here before, I am an enthusiastic (but poor) photographer, I don't have the 'eye' but I love practising. Taking pictures of cars appeals to me - and there are a couple of other frequent posters here that also take shots of cars, both in action and static. I also love looking at pictures of cars - I cannot explain why, I just do. So I frequently take shots of my own cars (as others here might take pictures of their wife or children for example) - do not assume that this is showing off, it's simply trying to capture an object, practising. If someone thinks that's showing off then it says more about them than it does about me. I don't think I've ever been accused of 'showing off' before, most would describe me as an incredibly modest person (which is imodest to say). There was a post here this week about photographing women (professionally) - and how the poster admired the typical 'cosmetic advertisment' for it's sheer quality. I feel the same with cars! I look through brochures of cars not only enjoying the metal, but how the photographer 'caught' the essence of the car. It's always a little unwise to make comments about people without really understanding their motives or objectives - it's rude frankly. However I accept you misjudged it.
