Knew the front end will irritate you gents 😉 

As it raced a couple of years in this new outfit and the 2nd gen models looked similar I thought its not impossible. This body is really nice, no complaints the owner decided this change.

Always like watching HWMs racing.

Hope this could compensate the strange tourist retro vehicle from my last riddle.

From my perspective it was very much a case of being educational rather than irritating. I've never seen a 2nd Gen. HWM before so Every Day Is a School Day!

Sorry Stuart - both our office printers decided to die over the last few days. I have taken them apart and cleaned all the connections to print heads and internal cards and put in new cartridges with no luck. There is a big shortage of new printers in the UK due to the lunacy of Brexit and I cannot find any ink tank type printers in stock at a reasonable cost, that do automatic duplex (needed for my wife's patient record cards and reports), so tearing my hair out at the moment. New car will have to wait until this problem is sorted. My wife is asking every hour - "can we print yet?"

They are going to have their first flying lesson this afternoon.

Ordered a printer but then noticed that although duplex printing was mentioned in the header, it was not in the technical spec. Checked on Epson's website where it said: "Duplex printing: Manual". What a load of BS. Any printer in the world can do manual duplex printing where you have to turn the paper over and reinsert. It is like claiming the printer has an automatic ink supply. I had to cancel that printer but then I found that the more expensive model of Epson Ecotank small office printer was out of stock everywhere, so I am going to have to spend hours phoning round trying to find stock at less than gouging price. Some people, who do have stock, are offering it at 50% over RRP, in the current printer shortage in the UK.

We have a big Epson pigment ink photo printer which I have switched on and put in some A4 plain paper but it is quite expensive to run for day to day printing, so I have requested minimal printing be done and of course it doesn't do double sided. I have an Epson Eco-tank ET-2750 office printer on order from a commercial computer equipment supplier (CCL) in Bradford, oddly the same people I bought the big photo printer from. Not cheap at £268 but it does come with enough ink for about the next 5 years use.

Wilson, that printer sounds great for frequent private use. 70ml ink/color, wow. My little Canon TS 8250 prints very good but costs a lot more with its ink cartridges with internal print heads. Can you empty the cleaning tank/sponch? The predecessor (6250) of my 8250 came up with a message „cleaning tank full, ask service“. Called Canon service and they said I shall print until the printer completely stops working (it will stop when tank estimated as full). Then I shall just buy a new printer, they allegedly cannot service the old one - too expensive. It would be so easy, they just have to replace the ink sponge. That I hated but had to get a quick replacement. That offers even smaller ink tanks for a higher price. Grrr.

Considered to open the old printer and clean the sponge, but as the filling grade is just estimated by a software counter, that needs to be resetted as well (otherwise printer denies work) and all the old button combo tricks do not work anymore. Gangsters 😞

Epson very sensibly make the waste ink tanks replaceable on the ET-2750. I came across the full waste and non-emptyable or replaceable receptacle on my previous A3+ photo printer, a Canon Pixma Pro-1 (the worst printer I have ever bought) and swore I would never buy another printer without replaceable ink waste tank. My UK A3+ photo printer, an Epson XP-15000 has a replaceable waste ink reservoir. In France I have an A2 size Epson Stylus Pro 3880 photo printer, which when not in use over the winter, sits with 9 third party refillable cartridges in it, all filled with print head cleaning fluid (Jon Cone's Piezoflush in Inkjetmall cartridges). Obviously I have to do a fair bit of print head flushing each time I change over between the cleaning cartridges and Epson ink cartridges and over the years I have got through 3 waste ink receptacles but the printer has never had a print head blockage, even though left unused for many months at a time. Most Canon printers seem to do regular and frequent head cleans on a scheduled basis, irrespective of their usage. This wastes a lot of ink and fills up the waste reservoir. HP and Epson printers only seem to a head clean either when first powered up or when requested and not when just left on stand-by. Every time I came to use my Canon Pixma Pro-1, it needed one or other of its 12 tiny (27ml) but expensive cartridges replacing, as its contents had all been p***ed away in unnecessary head cleaning.

Pixma Pro-1 has no replaceable waste ink tank and Canon does not offer a service for that? A shame! In winter I considered buying a new LFP but the tests were a desaster according to my "wish list". My old HP 850 inkjet which I used in the office is still working and I can still get ink cartridges. That I bought in the mid 1990s! It still prints from an old PC which is not connected to internet. Was 1.000,- DM but ink tanks are big. Had three HP roll paper Designjets over the years, the latest one still works great. To hell with 14 inks, 6 are still enough to handle.

Interesting to read about your french printer. Fluid change when not in use sounds like with old cars 😉

I decided to send my files to print services when I need something special. Too much hazzle and non-use here. Clients get PDFs today. In the past they wanted full size test prints of their designs.

I want to say Austin (mid -to-late '30s ) but I say so with a low degree oif confidence fseveral reasons: I don't know very much about that period of english cars, I'm not sure Austin ever had 'suicide doors' , and the sidevents and hardware somehow don't look correct for an Austin................but I tried.

Venting definitely looks wrong for an Austin (my initial first thought too.)I was wondering about a Salmson (Later S4 of some type) but I think the grille detail is too fine and maybe the screen angle is wrong. Hmm - does seem familiar.

John is correct with it being from the mid-to-late '30s and it is, as you both guessed, of British manufacture. The company is rather famous for one of its earlier creations  - although not a car - some 5 decades before this model was built.
