The Vanwall GPR enterprise seems to have died despite some interest at the time (2006??) Congratulations (or commiserations depending on your Photo Library stock) Nigel! Yes; a Series Two (apparently!) as it has the 'Luggage Hatch' in the tail as suggested by the hinges seen in post #14707. An absolute hoot to drive (I was told) and good luck to them. I rather liked the enthusiasm the owner had for his steed and I hope they make a go of it this time. Anyone even remotely interested here's some further reading; http://www.ronart.co.uk/Ronart_Brand/ronart_brand.html Whole thing just to finish off; Welcome, dear visitor! Their claim is (and I quote); "The W152 Design : Influences of Mercedes, Vanwall, Maserati, Lotus, HWM and Jaguar". wlaidlaw Posted February 17, 2021 Share #14725 Posted February 17, 2021 Thanks for that info and link. I think the Ronart would look better with the cycle mudguards much tighter to the wheels rather like my Three Wheeler Morgan. They are so tight that on one side, even if I deflate the tyre, I have to loose the mudguard stays to get the wheel off its spline. I suspect the Ronart mudguards are fixed to the body/chassis rather than the wheel hub as on the Morgan. Wilson

What a palaver with the Morgan's wheel! The tighter 'guards do look a lot nicer, though. I suspect you are correct about the mounting of the mudguard stays on the Ronart. The gentleman who owns the car was always a regular visitor to the Sevenoaks and District Car Club sprint meet. If the event happens this year and he is there I'll ask him a bit more about his machine. Incidentally, and just by way of signing-off with the W152 seen here, the chassis-design of the model was carried out by Spyder Engineering who had been responsible for similar duties on behalf of Lotus so I would imagine the Ronart handles rather well when properly sorted. NigelG Posted February 18, 2021 Share #14727 Posted February 18, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Will dig out a pic soon... In the meantime (with apologies for an iPhone pic) a new self-deprecating Smart owner sticker I saw in NYC this morning. Welcome, dear visitor! Reminds me of the sticker on the rear of the original oddball Fiat Multipla that read something like : ”If you think this looks weird wait till you see the front” (I think I saw it in both French and Italian - but maybe not English) 2
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! wlaidlaw Posted February 18, 2021 Share #14728 Posted February 18, 2021 There is a photo in one of our family albums, taken in Norway in I think 1948 or 49, when my father was on a business trip. It shows one of those Mercedes open staff cars in a very battered state, obviously now owned by students and painted in large letters on the side (in Norwegian of course) is: "Don't laugh mother, your daughter might be in it". a.j.z Posted February 18, 2021 Share #14729 Posted February 18, 2021 (edited) My favourite in this respect - although not on car - still is the first scene in the movie "Spaceballs" (a Star Wars parody). A big star-battleship glides through the picture (it seems endless) and then after a minute or so you finally see the back with the inscription "WE BRAKE FOR NOBODY" https://youtu.be/1dZveoBfiww Edited February 18, 2021 by a.j.z

The Impish side of me wants it to be a Kougar Jaguar as suggested in post 14718!.... Initial thoughts? The quality of casting / finishing of the fuel-filler cap suggests a byegone age and right-hand-drive suggests UK origin. The right-facing 'white arrow' is very likely to be the reverse of a "1000 Miglia" sticker (although most point 'the other way'?) so probably something quite bona-fide... Nice Teaser, Nigel! Haven't a clue (as yet)!...unless we ARE thinking Jaguar?.......C-Type, perhaps? Clutching at Straws! Philip. wlaidlaw Posted February 19, 2021 Share #14733 Posted February 19, 2021 The speedometer font looks like Jaeger, as used on Jaguar cars and there are some very 1970's Halfords looking toggle switches. A Panther J72? Wilson
stuny Posted February 19, 2021 Share #14734 Posted February 19, 2021 I was thinking just a bit more common: a C-Type.

wlaidlaw Posted February 19, 2021 Share #14737 Posted February 19, 2021 (edited) Maybe a different Panther - a Lima? The white arrow might be a left over from the owner's last trip to France, to remind of which side of the road to drive on. I have added that essential for a dry sump air/oil cooled engine, an oil temperature gauge. At the height of a Provençal summer, the oil occasionally gets up to 120ºC, so I use expensive oil, Motul Le Mans 300V 20W60 pure synthetic competition oil, which is rated to 165ºC. I also replaced all the oil hoses where Morgan as normal, used the cheapest they could find, only rated to 90-100ºC. I now have Aeroquip hoses rated to 160º. There is unfortunately just no good place to put an oil cooler on the Morgan Three Wheeler for a France based car. All the kits I have seen fit it above or instead of the front number plate but given the French habit of parking by the contact method, it would not last long.
