You are in the right area but famous for something else (it had nothing to do with starting a world war but more with saving the world)

The history of this car is very murky. There was the myth of it being the "Black Car" killing dozens of subsequent owners, passengers and pedestrians but when this was investigated in more detail recently, it just did not stand up. Also there is some evidence of the real Sarajevo car having been scrapped in 1917 or alternatively 1923. There are two cars competing for the Sarajevo car. The best claim is the car in Vienna’s Heeresgeschichtliches Museum but there is another car in the Sarajevo museum which I saw last year but I think this is a cobbled together copy.

You got it! A Lohner Porsche Mixte from 1901 with Daimler 5.5 l engine plus wheel motors, an early hybrid. The sign says it had 25hp and could go 100 km/h although I would  not be to keen to test the high speed.

Here is the next one, which I think is pretty easy but then I know what it is.

Correct a Renault 5 Maxi Groupe B rally car, which bears about as close a resemblance to a regular 5 Turbo as a Nascar Chevvy bears to Grandad's Caprice. It is a space frame and carbon fibre tub with a mid-engine version of the Alpine Dieppe 1300 DOHC motor, sleeved out to 1527 cc and a sequential gearbox. In period they produced up to 385 BHP but turbo technology has moved on a long way since. The owner was telling me he is now getting over 400 BHP at the back wheels, which means over 450 at the flywheel. He said it was supposed to have been driven by Jean Ragnotti but then they all were. He was in his late 50's and said he is soon going to have to sell the car, as his reactions are just not quick enough for it. It is apparently a real handful to drive at any significant speed. I was encouraging him to find a late 1970's ex-USA Porsche 911 racecar like mine and build it into a group 4 RSR rally car. If you get the correct people to build it (I gave him the names of two companies in France), they are very forgiving and benign to drive, even for an old f**t like me, unlike their reputation. Modern trick limited slip differentials from Quaife or Kazz (I use a Kazz) have really tamed these cars and totally eliminated the lift off oversteer.

The car behind is a regular R5GT Turbo with a front engine and front wheel drive. Your turn John.

Not sure why you can’t see the car, or what logins have to do with it.

The way this thread works is someone posts a bit of a car, and we all have to guess what it is.  The person who gets it right, then has to post a new bit of a car, rinse and repeat.  You need to have taken the image of the car yourself, using either a Leica camera or a Leica lens.  That’s it.

Grab a drink and popcorn, and watch in wonder as the experts identify the most obscure cars, and give interesting history for each.  Anything made before I was born, I struggle!

PS - I should have said you don’t get to post a new car until you’ve guessed the current car - so it’s one at a time ...

Please forgive the delay in posting a new 'puzzle car'.

After much digging & searching I think I may have finally come up with the 'perfect crime', i.e. a car that I don't think can be guessed..........and it's not a one-off, rather, a highly regarded production automobile.

I'll be perfectly satisfied if the winner simply names the marque only................model designation optional.
