I assume ( never a wise thing to do ) I 'solved' the last one, therefore allow me to post this new puzzle car.

Make and model, please, since the color surely gives away the nationality of this utterly charming and historic little jewel.

I think it’s rather a stretch to consider this car a series production model (hem) but it certainly is a jewel - and rather more beautiful in my eyes that this particular designer’s later works....although again there is something a little “off” with the nose.

I don’t have anything to post so I’m going to hold off saying any more. 🤭

It's none of thje above mentioned marques, but NigelG's speculation that it's not quite a production model is going in the right direction. I just wish he would have stated which particular designer he had in mind, because that would be an important clue.

I will offer that this particular car was largely based on the production series, and was designed for specific races in a specific season............and was very successful.

Not Savonucci ( Ghia ). Rather, an other Italian coach builder of the same general time period, i.e. shortly after the end of WW 2, who got his start just a couple of years prior to creating this car, about the same time that the manufacturer of the subject car opened his doors. In talking to the owner of the car, he went out of his way to assure me that every effort had been made to make absolutely certain that the car looked exactly as it did at the start of its biggest victory.

After further research it also could be a (variant of a) Ferrari 225 Sport Berlinetta 'Tuboscocca' (1952) that won the 1955 Cuban Grand Prix. Like the Abarth it also has side vents but the back looks more similar to John's car (assuming some modifications for race use).

To be fair, this must go to Andreas, since insisting on additional detail would serve no purpose.

It is a Ferrari 250S Berlinetta, which was a direct evolution of the 225S and 212 Inter series, and yes, it's a 'Tuboscocca' model  - meaning that it used the new, stiffer, stronger & lighter chassis for racing, and it was designed by Michelotti who at the time was Vignale's chief designer. The car is one of a total of six such cars produced, but characteristically, no two Vignale examples of that era ever looked exactly alike.

This car ( Ser.# 0156 ET ) debuted at the '52 Mille Miglia and won it outright, with the team of G. Bracco / A. Rolfo defeating the mighty new Mercedes 300SL driven by Karl Kling. A month later, Alberto Ascari set the fastest time with it at LeMans, but failed to finish due to clutch problems, a weakness that haunted this car throughout its career. Later the same year, the car also won the Pescara 1000 km race in the hands of Bracco & Marzotto.

Thanks for the effort and the interest, your turn a.j.z.
