It's not a 280E - too few doors. W123 is on the right lines, but which model?

I'll accept the 280CE as it could be either that or the 300CD. Although this particular one does look like it has been modified at some point as it has a spoiler on the tail and also an additional indicator on the front wing...... jcraf, your turn!

Porsche 934. In the first photo, David Piper is in the background (L). For the spotters amongst you, the 'whale tail' of this car is not period correct, it having the upturned edge and lower shape of the later 3.3 litre 911 turbo (930) road car.

Ex-works 934s had had the earlier and thinner flat edged version tail spoiler of the 1976 3.0 turbo road car, but the 3.3 tail was often retrofitted by customers as it was more aerodynamically efficient (allegedly).

However, with rudimentary aerodynamic aids, turbo lag, and a top speed of nearly 200mph, the 934 was still capable of turning the driver's underwear brown, irrespective of the tail fitted.

JZG, your turn.

Sorry, forget to cose the loop & post the next 'mystery car'…….. but in this case, something a little different. Instead of a fragment of one car and guessing make year, model, etc., here are four images of essentially the same fragment from four different cars, all the same marque.

You have to identify the maker. To the best of my knowledge, this was the only marque of the period to utilze this very distinctive styling detail, i.e. the central, vertical, chrome grill bar.

Has anyone ever driven a Pegaso? We have considered adding one to our collection but the one person we spoke to, who was more of a historic Bugatti and Hispano person, said they were awful. However, it did not matter because they all would break down before they reached the end of the road anyway! Some of them have very pretty bodies. In reality for that era, a Maserati A6GCS is probably a more sensible buy.

I made that too easy, but of course you're right, John.

In the early to mid fifties, when Pegaso was trying to compete with the red cars from Maranello, I remember reading reports that Enzo actually feared that his ex-co-worker and later nemesis, Wilfredo Ricart, who headed up the Pegaso project, was a real threat and someone to be respected. After producing about 100 very expensive cars in total, Pegaso folded and went back to producing only gtrucks and industrial vehicles, without ever attaining the level of the contemporary Italian classic sports cars.

Your turn, John

Thank you, John. The Pegaso was certainly one of the most exotic cars produced at the time. It was a shame they didn't pay attention to the details.

Anyway, the only auto images I have around to post at the moment were taken with a Nikon so they don't qualify. I'll take a pass for the moment and hope I find some Leica images next time I'm going through the files.

Okay, found one. Year and make, please. I have not blurred out any insignia or script.
