Quite sure it's not an Adenauer........Adenauers were much more formal and had chrome window surrounds. The black example is later and much more modern than that.

I think we're looking at a Mercedes-Benz W 111 sedan, most likely early to mid-'60s, since the series, including the 220s, which I think is what is shown here, was produced from about  the late '50s through the late sixties. All that happened during the time M-B had merged with the moribound Studebaker brand for the sake of getting a foothold in the U.S. through an existing US dealer system.

Dunk,

Very interesting. We were the first foreign registered cars to go over some of the mountain passes, since the second world war. Many of the cars had problems due to inadequate preparation and from the vibrations of the unmade parts of the roads. Some cars were just plain unsuitable like a 1930 huge long wheelbase Rolls Royce Phantom II Sedanca de Ville. A lot of the cars also had problems with dirty fuel. Our extremely well prepared Merc 280SL, which has been doing rough road rallies for over 20 years, and has things like a 40 ton truck fuel filter, air assist springs, raised suspension and everything either wired or cable tied firmly together, had no problems at all. At a couple of the hotels, we were the first guests, as this part of Myanmar is just being opened up to tourism. We ended up being received by the Minister of Tourism at the national parliament in Nay Pya Daw, which has a totally deserted 20 lane motorway leading to and from it. Below pic of the hill monastery at Popa and the 20 lane approach to the parliament buildings.

Well worth doing.

Uh... I vaguely remember a 3 wheeler VERY similar to this (not sure was the same... color was different, anyway) : I remember only that it was equipped with the BMW K series 4/cyl. engines... the brand sounded aliene to me so didn't keep it in my mind...
