I believe, Nigel, that you might be confusing the "SPV" with the "SPC".......😸....... The 'Spectrum Patrol Vehicle' was painted from the same spectral palette as the Mysterons Mystery Car but - for obvious reasons (😸) was designed without windows whereas the 'Spectrum Partol Car' was very angular, was 'windowed' and was painted 'Rosso Corsa' (or thereabouts)....Just Like the Lincoln! Hence, clearly, my befuddledness.... Philip. EDIT : I have a sneaking suspicion that the SPC was based on the 1962 250 GT SWB 'Breadvan'...... Advertisement Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 Hi pippy, Take a look here Name this car..... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
NigelG Posted June 26, 2024 Share #22062 Posted June 26, 2024 Ahh - I thought you were referring to the SPV - actually the “Spectrum Persuit Vehicle” - not sure there was a Dinky version of the SPC? I have also come to realise that most of my car knowledge at some basic level is via Matchbox, Corgi or Dinky cast-metal versions of now-well-known classics!
NigelG Posted June 26, 2024 Share #22063 Posted June 26, 2024 Hold the front page….I just found out there was a Dinky SPC but although it was originally red it changed later to a copper/bronze colour(?!) and being of a very slightly younger generation (cough) I didn’t cotton on.

NigelG Posted June 27, 2024 Share #22068 Posted June 27, 2024 (edited) The exterior and interior colours are the clue to the designer link of this rather hideous tie-up but as I suspect I know the owner (he has a large menagerie of US imports in various stages of repair) I will say no more... Stuart - based on the crop and my profession I'm wondering if you want the name of the glazing manufacturers 😉 1

It's not exactly much of a clue; a little bit of sloping glass? I'll pop back in a few days when we might have gotten down to an obscure bit of the rubber door seals... Philip. NigelG Posted June 27, 2024 Share #22071 Posted June 27, 2024 (edited) Looking more closely I’m wondering if that is a single-sweep wiper mounting so Hmm… That could be a rear windscreen maybe..? Edited June 27, 2024 by NigelG

Based on the research involved on trying to get window and door seals for my ‘65 Bristol that’s not such obscurantism* IMHO (* Secretly hoping that might qualify as the first use of the term on LUF…)

Funnily enough... Of all the parts produced throughout the life of the VW Typ-1 (Beetle) there was only ONE detail which never changed from start to finish and that was the cross-section of one of the rubber seals. I can't for the life of me remember which specific seal it was and I'm not sure in which volume I picked-up this absolutely vital piece of info but I'll have a look through some books later on... stuny Posted June 27, 2024 Share #22076 Posted June 27, 2024 Wilson got it. That crop was one of thievery few I could have made that wouldn't instantly give away the vehicle's identity. I't's larger than it looks, and quite homely, seen here in the entrance driveway to a hotel in Spokane, Washington. Welcome, dear visitor! That is, without the slightest of doubts, the ugliest thing (not just the ugliest car) that I have ever seen in my life. Clearly it was designed to evoke just such a reaction. In my dreams tonight I hope that the spirit of Dante Alighieri will have discovered a newfound layer into which the designer(s) and those who buy such an abomination may be condemned for evermore. For the first time I find that the concept of 'souls' enduring Eternity in Hell sounds like a wonderful idea. Truly Unbelievable. I will hold back on what I really think because The Ban Stick isn't an attractive option...... Philip. Edited June 27, 2024 by pippy

Looking at the mystery car words / phrase like 'Aesthetic Beauty; Finessse; Taste; Elegance' don't readily spring to mind.... Absolutely no offence intended I assure you but I am curious to know where you might find any redeeming features whatsoever in this unparalleled travesty. I'm guessing that they tried-out octagonal wheels and tyres but, subsequently, they found out - to their amazement - that the ride comfort was 'impacted'.... Philip.
