Rona!d Posted June 8, 2023 Share #19927 Posted June 8, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) You got it, Lelmer! It is the stylish electric box "Citroen Ami". A bit slow (45 km/h) due to young driver options (15 or 16 years with small motorcycle license). If it would be faster (75 km/h) I´d like it. Saw them first in Florence, over here in Germany you can only order the Opel Rocks-E clone which is close to 10.000,-€ compared to the original Citroen for 6.900,-€ in Italy or France. Over there you also get 900,-€ from the gov., so this is a 6.000,-€ vehicle which comes close to a big Vespa. In the Ami you stay dry hence I posted rain shots. Also have sun shots. The color is a nice light grey-blue. If I´d life in Florence permanently this could be an option for a city vehicle (parking space is a true problem, even a FIAT 500 or a Mini is a big car there and our BMW X3 is permanently parked at the villas parking lot). What I like is the 2-seater space, usually you just get a 1-seater in that size. Over to you! Welcome, dear visitor! "Different Times; Different Ball-Game" of course but I know which one I'd choose given the option. ASTONISHING cars, both. Thanks for posting! P. We used to have a 906T but decided that having your feet as the front crash structure, as they sit ahead of the front axle line and there is only a thin sheet of alloy in front of your feet, was just too dangerous and swapped to a 904/6 (originally a 904/8) instead. We kept the spare T (titanium) engine, selling the 906 with its non-T engine and put the T engine into the 904/6. Picture below taken from inside the 904/6 on the Nurburgring. Risk of sudden car stops in autostrada tunnels included. I have to give him the three different setup options of the cold start system which could reduce his problem. And an overhaul of the fuel pump wouldn´t be the worst idea. There must be an air leak somewhere.

About an egg cup/50ml per tank of fuel is enough. If you don't do that, modern petrols, especially E10, which have close to zero lubricity, will wear out the Bosch mechanical injection pump in a surprisingly short time. We do this now with all our mechanically injected Mercedes cars and Porsches, both road and racing. We also used to do it on the racing cars with Lucas rotary mechanical fuel injection, Ralt RT40-Judd, Ferrari 312PB and the Cosworth DFV/FVC/BDG engines in various cars. Rona!d Posted June 8, 2023 Share #19934 Posted June 8, 2023 Redex petrol additives don´t contain upper cylinder lubricants anymore since around 2004 when Holts reformulated it. It just cleans to reduce sticking valves. I think "an egg"/tank of fuel of the modern racing 2-stroke oil I use in my Vespa could be helpful. Maybe I should also consider that in my older vehicles. Thanks, Wilson. I think the cold start setup is another key. The 1 second relais has to be checked and set up properly. Also full throttle when starting the engine is even recommended in the old Mercedes user manuals. Otherwise the pump is in danger sucking air at every start. Fortunately he still has the old 2-stamp mechanical pump installed as his 300 SE is from the first lot. He can also get the pressure valves out easily and fine-sand them with toothpaste. Many things to be done, haha.
wlaidlaw Posted June 8, 2023 Share #19935 Posted June 8, 2023 (edited) We use Motul synthetic racing 2 stroke oil. Yes it is expensive but a lot cheaper than a Bosch mechanical fuel pump rebuild. I think Neil Bainbridge (https://www.neilbainbridge.com) charges us between £1500 and £2000 for a Bosch MFI 6 cylinder pump rebuild. The expensive one was the 12 cylinder rotary pump (originally Lucas) for the Ferrari 312PB, where Ferrari Classiche charged around €8,000 for a rebuild and did not do it particularly well, as we had constant idling problems afterwards. Rona!d Posted June 8, 2023 Share #19936 Posted June 8, 2023 Sorry Alain for gasoline talks here. Back to your car. I think this could very well be an Opel Diplomat A, maybe even a Coupe. ps The side stripe trim curves a lot so this is possibly a smaller Opel with a less long front end than the Diplomat. Thanks for that pic 😮 - I'll maybe upload the x-rays of my spiral fracture of my left tibia when I caught the front wheel on a pavement kerbstone in the UK, was thrown forward in to the road and my leg snapped/deformed at 45º and required surgery and a lot of titanium to get it straight (ish)...
