So it is not a conventional limousine. It appears to be too low for an SUV. Maybe a modern pony car, like a Ford Mustang?

You got it. A 2005/2006 Mustang. I was really surprised and pleased with the trunk space.

Most of my photos are of coach-built cars, however as they are so individual I think it a little unfair to post such images.  Here is a production car of which many were made:

A friend who had an 812, called it "50 body panels travelling in approximately the same direction". In a way he felt this was fortunate, as the creaks rattles and groans from the bodywork, drowned out the whining of the supercharger and gearbox. Maybe it was a pity that E L did not actually buy Cotal boxes, rather than copy them but of course, they were designed for RWD cars and would have needed a lot of work to convert. I think Anthony Lago's Cotal is a brilliant device and I am always surprised more makers did not adopt it in the 1930's. The rumours put about that it would engage two gears at the same time are total nonsense put about by competitors. There are both mechanical and electrical interlocks to prevent this.

Jag XK120 Drophead, or a bit less likely Xk140 Drophead?

Good morning Stuart, it is the roadster version.  In Australia with cloth tops we frequently replace the back window with a zippered version.  I did it to my MG TF.  It means that in the blistering summer sunshine there is a little protection from skin cancer without some of the joys of an open car.
