Advertisement Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 Hi Graham (G4FUJ), Take a look here Name this car..... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pippy Posted February 16, 2021 Share #14702 Posted February 16, 2021 (edited) Yes, Graham. The ubiquitous Jaguar XJ of the period in either straight-six or V-12 configuration. I meant to say that the company, although having gone through many changes over the years, is still manufacturing these cars to this day. Philip. wlaidlaw Posted February 16, 2021 Share #14703 Posted February 16, 2021 It may be of interest to car enthusiasts that Seb Vettel is selling off a lot of his personal car collection. A-M must be paying him a LOT less than Ferrari were. I have just had an email from Tom Hartley advising me of this. You can look (and drool) at the cars here https://www.tomhartleyjnr.com/current-stock/ Wilson 2
Rona!d Posted February 16, 2021 Share #14704 Posted February 16, 2021 If I were Seb, I‘d do the same. Not for money reasons, just for not making any more advertising for the former employer. I might look for one classic and one modern Aston and spend the rest for a classic wooden sailboat 😉
Rona!d Posted February 16, 2021 Share #14705 Posted February 16, 2021 So many strange collectors Ferraris would be a complete leftover for me, no matter if I were a driver at Ferrari or not. Best time to get rid of useless toys. Wouldn‘t suprise me if Seb gives the generated money for charity without telling.

That's Nice" were the 512 Boxer (always liked those) and, I admit, muliple "Ooohs" for the 1965 500 Superfast. Philip.

NigelG Posted February 16, 2021 Share #14708 Posted February 16, 2021 (edited) Well at least it doesn’t have the “tyre tread” wings/mudguards of the Vanwall GPR by the same concern! Edited February 16, 2021 by NigelG

Rona!d Posted February 16, 2021 Share #14711 Posted February 16, 2021 Gents, pleased to see nobody wants the fantastic looking S2 "Flying Spur" which would be my choice as a father of two little kids 😉 Only the Alpine stereo in the dashboard is questionable but I would fix that with a Becker Classic or a hidden bluetooth solution. It´s a driver so I wouldn´t mind nice audio from time to time.

I had seen the Van' previously (i.e. ages ago) but didn't appreciate it was manufactured by the same company! I have to say that, ('guards apart) I quite like the Vanwall.................. OK; it might be a little bit(!) Cheesy but original examples are somewhat thin on the ground. Philip.

It is just behind the driver's ear, noisy and annoying with a high pitched whine. Furthermore they spin like a top, but then that may just have been my poor driving !!!

With my 914 having been switched from fuel injection to a pair of twin 40 Webers I had to listen to the electric pump to judge when would be 'best time' to turn the key... Philip. If I'm mistaken and members wish the current car to be 'teased-out' in the traditional fashion then I would be delighted to oblige. If, on the other hand (and if no-one objects too strongly), I might be able to push the now-empty "Car-Photograph Barrel" to one side and start digging... Please post away with your best suggestions as clearly most of you know what it is! Phiilp. EDIT : Otherwise I'll post a snap of the car's badge and then there will be No Excuses Accepted............ Graham (G4FUJ) Posted February 16, 2021 Share #14718 Posted February 16, 2021 From memory, there was more than one manufacturer making very similar cars. I'd plump for Kougar on this one?

I seem to recall that you only turn on the electric boost fuel pump for starting or at idle on a Superfast just like a 250GTO. I forget what it is called Auto-something. Otherwise the engine driven pump will supply enough fuel. See photo of 250GTO dash below. I agree that the 500 Superfast is a pretty evil car to drive. I had a very brief drive of the ex-Peter Sellers one and was not impressed. I should nevertheless have bought it when it was for sale in 1970 at less than £2000 but it was somewhat accident damaged with a squashed front wing. Wilson Welcome, dear visitor!
